if you want 23 pounds of downforce, put a concrete block in your trunk (or audio equipment like someone said earlier). that way, you have 23 pounds of downforce ALL THE TIME.

very little thought goes into the aerodynamics of the little wings tacked onto the back of most cars. the aerodynamicists testing the stuff have some say as to if it should be included in the design, but it mainly comes down to what's aesthetically pleasing.

So CorelJones is tuned... from the sig I assumed he was still on Stg2 tune. You don't beat much with the Stg 2 tune

I'm confused now. Either you are or you aren't tuned by Raven.

If you are on the STOCK GM STG 2 tune... I don't know how you won... but you OBVIOUSLY won.

I'm am on Stg 2 tune as well, I beat a lot of cars... and I lose to a lot cars, ones that have JUST Intense Stg3. Its all in the tune.

And how are you running lean on the GM Stg 2 tune??? Lean makes more power... but is more dangerous.

Dunno ...

Better than nothing, right?

I've been doing some research as it regards rear spoiler/wings.

Here are a few things that I found out:
  • Aerodynamically, "spoilers" are different from "wings"
  • Spoilers are meant to "spoil" a car's undesirable airflow characteristics
  • Adding weight in the trunk will not help to "spoil" a car's bad airflow
  • Wings are primarily intended to produce downforce
  • Positive Lift/Zero Lift on a car is undesirable
  • Regarding weight distribution, cars with engines in the front (fwd OR rwd) are already out of balance
  • Our Cobalts have exactly 60% of the weight up front (1776bs front/1183lbs rear)
  • Ultimately, the goal is to provide the minimum amount of front/rear downforce needed to stabilize a car (w/o producing excessive drag)

Just FYI ...

Unless rk has access to a wind tunnel, no way to know.

Top Speed is over rated....why would you want down force? the cobalt isn't a 200+mph car

Cobalt already has 60% of it's weight up front.

We need to have our back end planted too (even on my lowly 150mph + Stage 2).

barely there spoiler? hot.

it'd be great to have a little carbon fiber lip (like on the 2005-2006 RSX-S) as a spoiler... something bigger than the itrenz one ^^, but not too big. it'd look great on white cars.

Extreme dimensions makes a universal cf lip spoiler that looks just like that JP Vizage one. Im pretty sure its dimensions would work well with a Cobalt trunk.
