Pulled over for tint
Pulled over for tint
So today, making a left off my friends street, there was a cop sitting in a bush on a motorcyle. He pulled me over for my 18% front tint
. He also gave me a fix-it for the address on my licensce. For the tint ticket, is there a fine with that also?
Edit: I meant 18% front tint, srry. I have 7% in the back.

i've gotten pulled over for tint on my old car too many times... You can just pay the 110$ fine and keep it on or you could plead not guilty and sometimes they wont make you pay the ticket if you remove the tint and show them with-in a certain period of time....Trust ME..lol
Or to help head this off in the future, if you know any physicians you can see about getting a note from them depending on how well you know 'em.
Either for them treating you for headaches or photophobia (skin condition) which necessitates you having dark tint.
I've been meaning to see a chiropractor I went to college with to get one.

Of course that depends on the state, one of my police officer friends showed me one time. He put a tint meter on his cruiser, it was of course factory tint on a front side window and just a little dirty, it was a few points from illegal. To conform in Ohio is almost impossible.

in most states, its actually illegal to tint your car at all!!
believe it or not!, but thats never enforced
they go by readings
and in most states that have requirements, such as NY, the stock tint from the factory is put right at the limit, so any additional tint will throw it off

in ny the stock tint is the limit
i think its 65%VLT, if i remember right
your window will say on it what its rated at
so any addt'l tint would make it illegal, technically
but in NY you can tint the rear window and rear side windows as long as you have both side mirrors

This may not work in all states. I did the same thing here in IA and right on the dot release it says only to 35%. Without the release you can't do any tinting on the front windows at all. That never stoped me though. On my old grand am I had 5% on everything but the windshield.
Nevada
Here in Vegas, I have had limo tint on all but front window for years. Everyone here does it. Even some of my cop friends have it. If I go visit family in Cali, I get pulled over almost every time. They try to play hardball, but when said and done they can't really do ****, i'm from out of state. Have not put tint on my SS/SC yet. Just not on the top of things to do yet.
I use 5% black tint on my truck and have a note from my eye doctor stating I suffer from photophobia. All I did was say, hey doc, I wanna have window tint and in order to have it legally I need a note saying my eyes are bad and he said sure. I've used it one time and the cop let me go with no fine.

Ohio is 50% on the driver and passenger windows. Dark as you want in the back of the car. 6inch strip in the front windshield is also allowed. Where i got my tint done would only warranty his work if i got a legal tint. Well it was smart because I have gotten pulled over and the cop metered it. I was at 45%. He said I was close enough. lol. But it's 50%, not 35%.

Damn 7% in the back!? My friends Cavalier has 20% and we can hardly see anything behind especially backing up at night.
I literally had to step out and guide him to back up so we wouldn't hit anything

NY State
That state window tint web site is messed up. Im buddies with a state trooper and a couple sheriffs and they told me tint is only legal if it is installed from the factory, and even then the front side windows cant be more than 70%. Anyways the site says-
NY front sides-70% rear sides-70% back window-ANY% front visor-6"
and the cops told me-
front sides-70% rear sides-ANY% back window-ANY% front visor- 8"
As far as it being from the factory, who cares, you think the cop is gonna sit there and try to peel the tint off?
later
