Question about a bumper.........

I know, another bumper question and will it fit, right? WRONG!!!

I found a site in a thread here a while back (the discounted GM products one; Fred Beans Parts) and they refuse to answer my question

They have two bumpers that I'm looking at. The SS one and the Sport one. Now the SS one has an illustration and is cheaper Link

Here's the sport one Link More expensive and no illustration.

I've already sent them a message twice now and no reponse. So maybe they fellow Balt community can shine some light on this for me.

Thanks

The one I'm looking for is the SS, not the SC

I called them and asked when I had a question. Easiest way to find out Watch their prices on the website I called and they said their price went up $50 and it wasnt showing on the site. I was looking at the SS bumper. On site it said $155 or something and they said it was like $200

Yeah, the front bumper.

Tax return is paying for it, as well as tint!

Plus wd, I don't want the SS/SC (lip kit and then have to add the rest of the lips to the rest).

I just want the SS (2.4) bumper

I thought that the SS/SC and the SS (2.4) had the same front bumper. So the SS/SC has a lip and the SS (2.4) doesnt?

This is hard to explain but the 2.4 and the sc rear bumpers are the same besides the lip. If you just order the 2,4 ss bumper it will have no wholes to mount the sc lip. But if you say I want to the ss/sc rear bumper they will sell it to you with mounting wholes already on the bumper to install the lip wich is a extra 200 dollars.

Which is what I want, the 2.4 Bumper, no holes! I never said anything about a rear bumper, but that's cool, I might pick up the 2.4 REAR bumper later/screw tint and use all of my tax return for 2.4 f/r bumpers (if it uses up all of my TR $$$).

SS/SC bumpers are for SC Cobalts, nuff said!

Just buy the SS/SC one with the holes. You can't see the holes (unless you got x-ray vision or are underneath the car).
You never know if you may want to install the lip later on down the road. Then you will be kicking yourself for not buying the right bumper at the time.

Well I just think that having that there for a while and not having it on the rest of the car will look tacky IMO.

I'm not gonna go all out on the appearance here, just the bumpers, or maybe a lip kit and paint my gray inserts on my bumper red. It's still up in the air I just wanted to know what the difference was on that site.

But thanks for all the input guys.

Well, I got a reply, here it is:

Reply Message Sent: Wednesday, October 11 2006 05:32 AM

The part numbers are different and that little strip on the bottom of the front bumper is different on the SS compared to a regular sport. One thing to keep in mind is that that lower piece is on all "SS" cars...regardless if it's supercharged.

Jeremy

all "SS" cars/cobalts DON'T have the lip kit, only the SC ones, or am I wrong? Unless they changed it, I'm pretty sure the only Cobalt with the LIP KIT is the SS/SC. Anyways, does that mean I should buy the cheaper one if I only want the SS (2.4) Bumper? I still don't know why they have two different prices then.

I've heard what the lip costs and I don't think the $40 difference will include the lip. I'm at a loss!!!

i think i might get the cobalt ss/sc bumper sometime soon in the future(and have everyone flame me) i want a new front bumper from a body kit, but it has to flow with the rest of my kit. the n/a bumper is like 7 inches off the ground, where as my kit is currently 5 inches off the ground. so i need something that is not fiberglass and flows with the car.

I think the Sport one would have the holes in it, so you could do the lip kit, cuz I now see that you can buy the lower deflector/lip seperately. I guess I'll buy the "SS" one that they list and see if it is the 2.4. Granted that won't be untill about march/april!

Thanks ted for clarifying that.

cobalt06ss_sc, I knew that, it's just they really don't give a clear description about either one.

In case someone misses it, and wants a 2.4 or SC bumper, if you click on the links posted in the 1st post, the "SS" IS THE 2.0 SC BUMPER (SLOTS). The Sport IS THE 2.4 BUMPER.

So if I have a 05 LS and want the bumper that goes on the SS/SC which one should I get? And if I dont get the lip kit with it, are the holes noticible?
