Question about Depo-Gen4 projectors and HID's

I'm a little confused here.
The lights come with twin H7 bulbs, and wires that end in 9007 plug, so they can be easily plug and play. How are you guys putting HID's in these? How does the H7 HIDs plug into the 9007 oem plug?
Should i buy H7 HID bulbs, and a 9007 ballast? Or is there some more hacking and splicing involved than that?

Buy a H7 HID kit, everything is plug and play no splicing, The Gen 4's come with a wiring Harness that plugs right into the stock connector. The HID's are basically separate from the headlight wiring, all you have to plug into the HID's is the plug that usually plugs into the back of the halogen bulb. I was confused at first to till I got the headlight and HID kit in my hand, then its pretty self explanatory. your gonna have to cut a hole in the back of the rubber grommet/ seal so your HID bulb wires can be able to plug into the ballast.

You rock thanks. So the oem plug from the car is pretty much the same as the 9007 plug on the headlights. that's all i needed to know. Now i don't know if i want black or chrome.

Yea basically, you'll figure it out when you get them. I got black, but my car is all black.

The gen4 lights completely replace the stock lights, wiring wise. The harness on them plugs into the square black connector, not the 9007 connector, so you've got nothing to worry about just get H7 stuff for HIDs and you're set.

hey i have this issue right now, how do the highs and turn signal wire up? they're on the square plug thats the gen 4's to the car. not sure where the hid's would get wired to, it sounds like i'd lose turns and highs if i went with hid's.

Your stock headlight harness plugs into the Gen 4 harness.

The Gen 4's then split that across as HI, LO, and TURN. The HID's plug into the Low output. Turn and High are handled by different bulbs, and are unaffected by the HIDs

right, but where do the hid's get wired up? do I just put the bulb in place of the normal lo-beam bulb and poof, magic, or do they need to be put into a power source somewhere?

The HID ballast has an input and an output. It plugs inline, from the LO output of your Gen 4's to the HID bulb.

Like said above it will make sense when you have it in front of you. The only part that can be tricky is mounting/hiding your ballasts

OH! Okay, so basically the HID plugs into the square harness, and the Gen 4's plug into the HID? It basically makes a train of plugs?

basically, you'll have wires running from the HID bulb (plugging into that little square harness), thru the rubber boot on the back of your projectors to wher you mount your ballast.

Then the main harness from your projectors plugs into your stock harness and you're good to go

I'm going to be buying some 4th Gen. Depo Projectors and a H7 HID Kit. This is all I need right? No relay harness is needed?

get a relay harness. It's very cheap security to make sure everything works correctly, and no chance of overdrawing current through the tiny stock wiring. Lots of issues are solved by people adding a relay harness, do it right from the start and save yourself the hassle.

Found a guide on youtube for this

Hey guys,

Found this on youtube by chance today and since I've seen a few of these posts asking about wiring info on Depo Gen 4 with HID's, figured i'd post it as a reply to this thread.

Cobalt 6000k H.I.D Install/Depo Projectors/Gen 4 - YouTube

I got mine ordered and on their way (55w, 6000k morimoto elite HID kit and the gen 4 projectors in black) to install hopefully soon. Vid only has 400 views surprisingly. Thought it would be more popular.

Yes they do. The low beam bulb is H7 and I believe the high beam is too.

Some early purchasers of the Gen4s had issues with the halogen bulbs creating too much heat and cracking the lenses. They have since fixed this issue(they said), but I wasn't going to take any chances and the reason I was purchasing these headlights was for HIDs.

I'd just get HIDs right away to save you the hassle of having to worrying about the lense cracking.

I'd like to try to retrofit FX-R projectors into the Gen 4s. Not sure if it'll all fit though.
