Im going to be putting painters tape over my car i will be driving 1300 miles. I was told if it got wet i would be screwed. Is this true and why?

Most painter's tape is not waterproof - it'll stand up to light hits of water during regular body work, but if you really wet it and let it dry, it curls, wrinkles, loses adhesive - all sorts of fun stuff, depending on the quality.

 

ya its drizzling and i was just going to wipe it down with a towel to get some of the water off of it

 

It's not that the water will ruin your car or anything, more than likely the tape will just fall off. Taped your car up to come back to Ohio?

 

Ya i tapped it up thinin it wasnt gonna rain..well jokes on me it rained and all the tape is peeling off...good thing i has another rolllll....Its just ND that really bad with bugs and rocks if it falls off any other time idc

 

Lol sounds like you have the same kind of luck I do. Wash car, ten min later, freak storm out of nowhere.
