There is no legal limit. It's all up to the police officer's discretion as he will determine if your tint is making it hard for him to see the driver. What's acceptable to 1 cop may not be for another.

The reason why a certain % rule doesn't work is because some cars come with a factory tint in the glass, like my Camaro did and it will make it that much more darker. The size of the windows of certain vehicles also restrics the amount of daylight coming into the car and that may make the inside of the car darker than on other cars with similar shade of tint.

You can go as dark as you want on the back windows but the front driver's windows can get you in trouble.

Some provinces use a device that measures the amount of light that passes through your glass. The officers use that tool rather take a guess, very much like they'd bring a decibel meter to measure exhaust noise.

As long as they can see the driver fine during day and night, you shouldn't get in trouble but some cops may ticket you if they don't like you or are having a bad day since it's apparently up to them.

it may be outdated, but its probably still good as a rough guide. id ask your local police for something updated.

I have 20% all around....and this was done by the dealer to promote the car on the lot. Never had a problem with cops.
