Rear Grill Inserts

Anyone done anything different than stock? Only reason I'm asking is because I lost the right one going over some serious bumps, and Its been off for a while, it looks tacky as **** (not to mention that the exhaust is cracked all around the rear of the resonater so it sounds like ass), and I'm too much of a tight ass to pay full dealer price, and ordering online will save me ~ $10 anyone have any decent ideas as to what to put there?

Metal mesh painted black...pick it up at Home Depot for like $8 for a 3'x8' sheet.
