Question Rear seats in the coupe

I have come to view my rear seats as a complete waste of space. No person of any size can sit back there, from either a leg room, head room, or actual seat cushion size perspective. Plus I have few IRL friends, so at most I would only have one other person in the car.

Ok with that said, it got me to thinking about the possibility of removing those seats and using that space for something useful? I have had a couple of ideas but none of them are anything I would really want to act on. I had thought about a large speaker box...but that would be one big box for a small coupe. Then I thought about maybe a consol of sorts, maybe housing a PS2, screen, speakers, etc... But hell i've seen things like that so much that i'm not really interested in it.

So I thought I would come here to see what ideas you folks might have? I had even thought about just extending the trunk and making it a two seater for sure. If you should have ideas, know that I am not opposed to removing the rear speaker deck...in fact I had kind of planned on it...so that might give you more options.

I saved 10 lbs and just took it out, put some black felt carpet there and tucked it under the OE carpet and under the carpet in the trunk.

Well as you said, there isn't much room for people so there really isnt room for cool stuff. TV's and consoles aren't really usable because there is no way to face them.I think a nice speaker setup would be cool. And it would bring weight forward in the car instead of over the rear axles.

Got enough room for a baby seat and my wife in the back of mine. She actually just recently commented that it was a comfortable ride back there. Go figure.

yeah I may end up doing a speaker box setup thingie. that would probably be the easiest and quickest to do. i just honestly can not think of anything else that would really work in that space. i'd do a mini-bar, but I dont think the cops would approve of it too much.

maybe i could make an all in one type unit for the entire speaker system. have it house the speakers where the seat cushions currently are. have the amps mounted on top of the box, in perfect line with the rear deck. create a location on the passenger side to hold CDs...maybe near where the arm rest currently are. i guess in a setup like that you could even move the radio back there too, but then id have to turn around each time I wanted to use it...naa probably keep the radio where it is. however I guess I could also mount a six disk changer in that assembly somewhere. i dunno, sounds like the same crap everyone else does.

any other ideas?

with some money you could do a sick fiberglass sub enclosure back there and put the amps in the trunk somewhere, and u could have it go into the trunk two.. so like 2 subs in the back seats... 2 in the trunk haha

Could be, with the deepfryer in there, convert it to bio-desiel ECO friendly fast food

just take out the seats, then diamond plate the entire floor back there. <-- my suggestion.

but since you seem to want to make your car heavier and slower, maybe you should just put a cot back in there to bone chicks on..

i dont know if I would like the look of diamond plating in a "sports car".

But to your other suggestion yeah, i probably should just pour concrete in the trunk, that would accomplish all my stated goals

While yes I suppose any additional weight would make the car heavier and slower, so would a full tank of gas as would the entire dash, seats, body panels, and rear wing. My goal is not to go 200mph @ 600lbs...its to make use of an otherwise useless space and if that makes the car go 135 mph instead of 146 mph...well so be it...im not going to go that fast in this little car anyway

Same here, my wife rides with the baby in the back seat all the time and she hasn't complain at all. It saves putting miles on my trailblazer ss

Me personally would do a SPL setup maybe a wall with two 15's with 300 plus sq ft of port but that also adds stupid weight to the car.

I've thought about removing my rears and making some sort of bracket to put my toolbox in.
