Removed Pin stripes with easy off oven cleaner
Removed Pin stripes with easy off oven cleaner
So I have dealer painted on stripes. They have been bugging me for months and a few on here told me to remove them. If they are vinyl you can just get a cutting wheel from an auto store and remove them but with paint you have few options. The easiest was using easy off oven cleaner. Spray it on leave it sit for like 20 minutes or more depending on how baked on they are from the sun. It doesnt ruin your paint and with a little scrubbing it comes right off. The scower pad is a very light soft abrasive, its not hard enough when wet to damage the finish of the car. You have to be careful when using one though because it is an abrasive and a fresh cut and buff of the paint will be needed after this if you want the car to really shine.

I am using a 3 stage cut, buff, polish system from autogeek. You can buy it here. http://www.autogeek.net/hk7424.html My cut buff and polish will be in my turbo duck thread, if you want to see it just check it out by searching "turbo duck lsj".
I thought others might find this useful, thanks for checking in.

nah, I did some research before I pulled the trigger. I googled it, found a guy who had used easy-off, watched him prove it, then I did it.
People on here, for some reason, are too afraid to search anything about their cars other than this site. There is way better stuff out there than this forum. Not a crack on you but it just seems like we are the only people that modify our cars. I learned everything about tuning, the 20g turbo from DSM guys, and so many other angles on mods from sites other than CSS.net. It just seems this site is more geared toward social stuff than real deep tech. Which is cool too...

Thanks, hence the gloves. It didnt have an odor and it was stuff my wife already had in the kitchen, I just took a shot at it. I cut the whole car tonight and all the paint is even and smooth, so it didnt streak, fade, damage it or anything. The clear protects the paint underneath, its actually its main purpose, it just happens to make a deep shine as well.
