Removing E-brake on LS model

Hey, I know theres a how-to on removing the e brake on a cobalt and puttin a new one on but it cant be that much work. someone said for the stick youd have to drill and whatnot. on the LS it just pops off. I know the cover on the LS for the ebrake just slides off but what about after that? Theres something else with the actual button but it just looks plastic. Does this just pop off also? Thanks for the help, just thought it might be diff. on an LS

it was done on an LT, I belive, which has the exact same handbrake as the LS. Yes, the plastic cover slides right off, but its the part that has the button that will need to be modified. However, if you figure out a better, easier way of doing it... make a how to!

i just did mine like two days ago. pulled the big plastic brick off, grabbed some pliers and a dremel and did some work. my new handle was decent sized so i just cut the top of the button about in half to fit (i'll explain why) and bent the metal around the plastic part of the handle so that it was still functional and didn't rub but was tighter and more round. fits fine. the only reason i cut the button is because it was pushing the handle up higher than i would have liked. so i cut it and it shortened it up a tad bit (also because i didn't want play in the button). only thing left to do now is sew a boot for it (plastic brick cut to size as a place holder. i'm too impatient sometimes)
