I made my retrofits with the kit from buyhids.com and they're pretty badass. light output is amazing, but i've never had my highbeams from the start. I know i wired them up correctly too, but still even the low beams with HID fogs as well really does the job. Seems like most people on here get some projectors from like an acura TL or something and they are even better.

Cons, cost.

Pros- more light, sharp cutoff, colorful cutoff, reliability, looks.

Easily worth the money.

TLs are going to be the most expensive setup you can buy, but is also the best projector, and is also the most difficult to install. They're what I'm getting, you can't get better bixenon projectors at the moment. Mini H1s and FX-Rs are what most people use, and are very easy to install, especially the mini H1s.

I just got the retros from buyhids with 6k bi-xenon. Love them so far. Sorry for the crappy pics:

This was the full kit already installed. I didnt have to do anything except for mount and wire them on the car. Only thing I didnt like is that the projector is held in the housing by these plastic prongs that a bolt snaps into. They pop out pretty easily and you end up with a loose projector bouncing around in the housing. So, with the help of a friend, we put hot glue in the prong with the bolt and it is holding like conrete lol Nice product though!

You have to swap the white and blue wires (IIRC) on BOTH of the hid harness blue connectors. I thought mine were screwed too then buddy told me to do that and I only tried it on one side and they'd turn on but not off so I gave up again. Then I had time and I did both sides and it works mint. Its so worth it too. Bright as f**k!

They're phone pictures so yeah they suck. They're 6k with white halos. Very easy install and very easy HID kit to wire up. Just follow the instructions.

Does anyone know what the halos are rated at in terms of hours? I'm debating wiring them to my parking lights but I don't want them to die super fast lol.

to have your stockers sent in and painted its 249, which i feel is a decent deal, the HID kit alone is about 100 dollars, the projector kit is proly another 100-150, painting materials is about 30-50 and then all the labor, and great ending product, got my vote...

As TommypSS/TC said the TL is the best projector, performs even better with ZKW-R lenses.
I wanted to retrofit a set of those on my cobalt but I screwed up 2 sets of headlights
The projector is too big and I just couldn't make it fit on the stock reflector.

I ended up with a set of FX-Rs and later on the road with a set of Mini D2S Morimotos. The minis are very easy to work with and they performed better than I expected, I recommend these projectors to anyone working on a low budget.

E55 projectors r also nice. I'm not a fan of the shrouds that buyhids uses. Ugly IMO.

ya the TLs take a lot of work to make them fit, but they will, I've seen it done several times. If you order the TLs from TRS, they come with ZKW-R lenses pre installed, which is what I probably will do if I don't buy them used to save money. The FX-Rs are a great choice for getting the best bang for your buck, ease of install, and good quality.

Whatever you do, just please don't put HID's in the stock reflector housings.

retro's ftw!

TRS FTW
Some guy here has a set of TLs but I think he built a custom bracket.

It's worth a shot either way, if I have to make a custom bracket then so be it, if I get tired of trying I'll sell the TLs and use FX-Rs, but I'd rather have the TLs if I can.

Heres a slightly better pic of mine I took today...again with my phone lol

These projectors aren't bad. They're a little big though, and the shrouds aren't the nicest around, but for a no cutting required install they're fine.

And +1 for the no HIDs in stock lights. Projectors are wayyyy better.

The kit buyhids.com uses is a cheap kit you can find on eBay or many of the Chinese wholesale websites around the internet...might as well buy the mini H1 projectors that TRS sells, same principle as far as mounting, but much better quality/cutoff/width.

I'm sure you can pick up CCFL rings off of eBay in a variety of colors...you'll want to use 70mm rings with the MH1 projectors. You can also paint the housing black or any color you like (match your car, or something) while the lamps are taken apart for the retro.
