Retrofitting Gen 3's
Oh I know, and when I retrofit my 3rd gens I will be using 4300k. I was just saying that even in stock form the 3rd gens are an improvement over stock.

Just read that you're going with 55w 8000k.
You were doing great up until that point.
Not only do kit bulbs run hotter than OEM bulbs but they give off more UV rays which are murder on projector bowls.
Running a kit bulb at 55w in this small of a projector is pretty much guaranteed to burn the bowl.

Im building these retro's to what I want. Already have the kit. Been running it a year. If the SHITTY 3rd gen projectors, with a PLASTIC cutoff shield can withstand the heat of a kit bulb 55w running for 8 hour long trips, im sure these nicer projectors will be just fine. I like a blueish bulb. I may think about switching bulbs for more light output but i wont like having 4500k low's and 8k fogs but im considering it more and more since white will look fine with the car orange n black. I do enjoy blue bulbs. Im super nit picky about everything and I like some style, dont really want OEM colored headlights. 3rd Gen 8k 55w is a stupid nice imporovement over stock. I had modified cutoff shield 2nd gen's with 3Bspec Custom yellow HID's. Talk about crazy low light output. 8k 55w with a good projector should give me PLENTY of light output. Im not building these retro's for the absulte brightest light output possible but was maily for the width of the beam and the cutoff.
Down the road if i decide I wanna go white lights ill just order some new bulbs

Probobly should have bought a different set but these looks baller and im gonna fabricate whatever I have to to make them work. Already put the TSX-R lenses on the lexus projecto's with the spacer.

LMAO exactly. Im not too worried about mounting it cause i can do that, but what I am gonna have to figure out is how to mount it and how to make adjusting screws to aim them after there mounted. Gonna have to fab up some brackets and find the best way to attach something to the projecter like a screw, that when tightened and loosened will tilt the projector face in side to side and up and down directions. First thign to do is remove all of the stock gen 3 adjustments that are in the way.
Maybe copy the mounting setup of the 3rd gens and run your mounting bolts all the way to the rear of the headlight that way when you tighten or loosen the nuts they pull the projector a certain way? Idk it's all I can think of. Otherwise I would say just get them aimed PERFECTLY before putting the front half of the headlight(shroud) on, then install them pre-aimed. Just gonna be a major pain to re aim.

Removing the damn little clips holding the adjustment screws in. Screwdriver wouldnt take them off so needed to cut them off

Once i removed the metal clips, i knocked the rod through

Now I got this left

Removing LED mounts

Cleaned it up a bit

Layed the projector in there to see where I have to cut to get it to mount all the way back

In order to get the projector to be moved far enough back to fit the shroud around it properly, I had to trim.

Started thinking of how I can mount this thing. Decided to do just what the stock 3rd gen projector does. Use the adjustment screws through holes in the back to mount and adjust the projector by tightening and loosening them. The Projector didnt have any holes in it for mounting purposes, but I made my own carefully

I got the bottom 2 mounted and there super secure. I just need to run to the hardware store tommorow to get a long bolt for the top that fits through the hole so i can use that to adjust the up and down of the beam. The bottom's will adjust left and right

Noooo. The Morimoto Minis are way smaller than those lexus projectors. They're TINY. I would bet on barely larger if at all than the 3rd gens stock projector.

resized the pics. Now that its mounted, well minus 1 screw that i need to pick up, i need to fiberglass up the holes in the headlight body i made and get crackin on the LED delete on the shrouds themselves and repainting them
Well an exact fit would be ideal, wouldn't it? I'm sure not capable of pulling off what Gestapo's done here, so ideally I'm looking for a set that involves as little fab work as possible.
yea those are my favorite cobalt projector headlights but the ******* lil led light kill it wish they made them without and until then i got my stock black housings **** it lol

decided 8000k wasn't bright enough? I like the pure white of 5000k. If you get them, get the ones TRS sells that are made for 50w, that way they don't drop color temp when running 55w on them. 5000k 50w is what I'm gonna do on my TL retrofit.

then id have to buy a whole new kit from TRS no? I was going DDM. I might stick to 8k for now and i can always change bulbs if i need to at a different time. bulbs arent a big deal. im afraid if i go 5k ill get brighted alot. the 5w 8k in my 4th gens im running now are bright as ****. i watch my low beams travel further than cars 3 cars in front of me when im in traffic. they light up everything. when im next to some1 there headlights dont even appear on the ground anymore and everything turns like baby blue/white
