Hey all, so I called Rota to see about special ordering a set of Gold Grids because the 5x110 bolt pattern is an odd ball. Thing is I need AT LEAST 3 people interested. Size im looking to get is 18x8 or 8.5 with about a 36-40 offset. If anyone is interested let me know......I'll be posting more info later.

Also I forgot to mention, the more people I get the more colors we can do. If I get 8 people they could do 2 colors and so on and so forth. The more people the better the discount

 

I'm not sure how many people are gonna be interested. You could always just order 5x114 and get them redrilled to 5x110. I had to do that it cost me 100 dollars at a shop

Well they're not going on a cobalt, going on a dart. Only reason I posted to the group was to see if anyone was interested since we share the same lug pattern haa. I know......I'll probably get chewed out but oh well haa

Redrilling fake wheels might not be the safest thing.

 

 

 

Do you know how the process works? Going from 5x114.3 to 5x110 isn't a big difference. They drill and use inserts to change the bolt pattern.

honestly, a wheel is a wheel to me. so what if its fake or not. if someone cant afford real wheels so what. they enjoy the car scene. re drilling "fake" wheels may be a bad idea but ive seen plenty of people do it with no problems. i rocked msr wheels for 3 years and didnt have a single issue with any of them. they looked great, they were cheap, and i put that other money towards other things i wanted. i got asked all the time, "are those rota's?" or "Volks" or Varrstoen's" no they are neither because i couldn't justify spending thousands on a set of "real" wheels when thats the only thing they have going for them is they are real. so ******* what, people with fake wheels have the same exact passion as people who like real wheels. thats the problem with the car scene these days and its just sad. end of rant sorry

i had some cheap aftermarket wheels on my previous car. I hit a pot hole one night coming home on the highway and the wheel cracked on the underside of the tire. Was not a fun experience at all.

there are some things that you dont want to cheap out on when it comes to your safety.

i look at it this way. if my rep wheels can survive 3 years on the terrible roads in Pennsylvania i think any wheel will be just fine lmfao

 

I imagine their failure rates are higher, but real wheels aren't immune to failure. Only difference is they are usually multi piece wheels and can be rebuilt.

There is no way I would run "real wheels" on a Cobalt. Just like there is no way I would run "fake wheels" on a good car haha.

 

Cheap wheels crack. Good wheels bend.

Modifying cheap wheels isn't the best idea.

 

my MSR wheels never cracked. hell my buddy is still rocking XXR wheels on his car and XXR are known to crack supposedly lol
