simply put, i guarantee 90% of the people who purchased the 2.4 SS have absolutely no intentions of going FI

in general, my post was, in many words, to state that the 2.0 SS, in MY OPINION was well worth the extra 1 or 2 grand, BC it is FI, with a few more STOCK upgrades performance wise than the 2.4. the 2.4 SS people are probly going to be waiting a while for any FI system to come out (unless theres somthing out that i dont know about)
any way im sure that im gona get flamed for this post too
I didn't mean to come off like a *****. The laughing face was meant to indicate laughter towards the general idea of performance gains from appearance items, not towards you.

I agree... most 2.4 owners won't go FI. But that wasn't the point. The point was that a FI 2.4 would take the 2.0. If you compare prices, the 2.0 is at least 2 grand more than the 2.4. So barring the other STOCK upgrades (suspension, tranny, tires... that's all performance wise since the LSD is an extra option), the price comes about even for a car that has more power under the hood. So with a few other purchases to catch up with the 2.0 suspension and whatnot, the 2.4 would cost slightly more than the 2.0... but would have more power in the end. There's a higher limit to the 2.4's potential. Sure, your 2.0 has more right now, but you already have FI installed. You can only do so much more to your engine. The 2.4's potential is barely tapped. That's the point I was making.

So yes, I agree, the 2.0 has more power "out of the box" than the 2.4. But my point was that the 2.4 has potential to be a faster car than the 2.0... so the 2.4 doesn't automatically give the 2.0 a bad rep on the street. In fact, if upgraded and tuned properly, it could help the reputation of the SS/SC.

I didn't intend to start a battle over which car is better. The 2.0 is a very nice car. However, no credit was being given to the 2.4. That's all I meant to correct.

Back on to the real topic here though... Black06ss had it right. The spoiler is what really sets off the SS/SC from the SS. No one looks at a 2.4 and says, "Oh gee, that SS doesn't have lips on the front and back. It must not be the SS/SC." I'd venture to say that most other drivers don't even realize that there are two versions of the SS. And the ones that do know there are two SS's would recognize my 2.4 with a 2.0 lip kit and 2.4 spoiler as a 2.4 SS.

And another thing that crosses my mind is... all this talk about the SS giving the SS/SC a bad name means that you're talking about street racing, which is illegal and looked down upon by many (even many on this board). Anyone racing at a track will be smart enough to realize which SS they are racing through other means than looking at what body kit is on it.

I agree 100% with this. Honestly the reason i want the kit is to give the front a little more aggressive look w/o making it look rice. also i dislike the rounded back end of the SS due to the lack of the back lip. But even though im missing 'the lips' people still assume my cobalt is supercharged just cuz i tell them its a cobalt 'SS'. due to the fact it is a newer model many people dont know the differences in appearance between the 2.

i have the LT, and wouldnt mind getting the ss s/c kit on it (with out the ss spoiler). while driving, if i see a cobalt i look for the s/c spoiler, if i see it, i think cool a ss s/c. but if i see a cobalt with out the ss s/c spoiler, i think cool a cobalt!
