Shift knob/boot

Has anyone had any problems with going and getting an aftermarket shiftknob and the shift boot not staying in place because of the plastic collar that it has on it. Or when you got the shift knob did you just get a new shiftboot with it too......Just wondering, give me some ideas cuz I got a new shift knob but wouldn't mind staying with the stock shiftboot if i could. It just wont stay up and there is this annoying gap that you can actually see the shifter through. It doesnt look too good.....Gimme some ideas

i too had this problem and there is a fairly simple solution. Take off your shift knob and go to like home depot or lowes and get a rubber grommet. i cant remember the dimensions its like 3/4 inch inside diamater and ??/16 outside diamater or something. anyway slip it over the shaft and then push it up to your knob and slide the boot over the middle of the grommet and it looks pretty good. if i can find the diamaters ill let you know.

I ended up going to Lowes and picking up a 2 pack of grommets there, they didnt have a very big selection so i just got ones that i thought would work, when i went to put it on the outer diameter wasnt quite big enough, so i ended up cutting down one of the ones that i had and putting that on top of the new grommet and now the boot is on there pretty snug and it looks a hole hell of alot better, thanks for the advice man, worked out great
