Short Antenna issue

I prefer the look of the stock antenna. I'm just going to do the shorty antenna mod. I used a 10mm wrench but when I turn it to take it out, the whole base spins inside the hole. Do I have to peel off the rubber boot that covers the hole? I don't want to just go rip it off without knowing. Thanks.

Alright, I'll look up in there tomorrow, I didn't know if there was anything in there I could put a wrench on. It just kinda scared me when I turned the antenna and the whole base just spun. like dafuq

yeah usuallly u would spin off, a drop of wd 40 may help also but u will still have to hold it from the inside, and if u do get wd40 on the paint, not a problem, they use it to get undercoat overspray off paint

You may have broken the whole base. I know I did when I was trying to put on my shorty antenna. Costed more more than I wanted to spend.

Happened to me, too.

Same as explained, you go to turn the antenna to unscrew it and the base attached to the inside of the trunck snaps off. Replacements can be found at crate engine depot, gm parts direct or gm parts east.
