Side Marker Signals?
Hey guys,
I've always kinda liked the side marker turn signal look.. They come stock on a few GM's now, so getting OEM ones would be alot better than getting some cheap-o APC ones. You'd just wire them up to blink when your turn signals blink. Those guys who have them on 24/7 are kinda crazy. lol. The only issue is that you have to cut a snall hole in your fender. No biggie. I was just curious if anyone did this to their Cobalt..
Here it is on the Aveo..

Also, I have a low-pro spoiler on my coupe. Noone around here wants to trade their spoiler-less trunk. Any alternatives? Like can you remove it yourself and just put in 2 like filler pieces, sorts like rubber caps to fill in the holes? I'm not sure how it's set up on the Cobalt, but some cars you can do that. Otherwise, I could just have them professionally filled, but then I may as well just go buy a new trunk..

Youd have to get creative how u would make them blink . On 05's and 06's the DRL and the turn signal are one single wire and are controlled by relays within the body control module circuitry . And for the rear , the signal and brake are together within the same wire as well controlled by the BCM . Theres no way to separate them after the BCM . So if u got your input for the new sidemarker light pending on from the front or the rear of the car you would also have DRL's or brake lights on the new sidemarker light as well .
You would have to get a pickup for the signal between the switch on the column and the BCM , and that may not be a 12 volt signal ....not completely sure there though .
just fyi man .
.... it is possible to do this....
on 05's and 06's
disable DRL
and wire the side markers up to the 1 wire setup. :-P
sound like a solution?
i'd have to see this on another cobalt before i even thought above drilling my fender to install them. lol

05-06's dont have a way to dissable the DRL's like pulling the fuse on the 07's . Youd have to turn the light switch backwards to disable them everytime u started the car=annoying .
