Has anyone used the stock mount for the front license plate and mounted it on the side? I've been brainstorming ideas and it seems like the best option thus far. Under-the-lip mounts don't suit me.

Theres a few people with offset plates, dunno how they did it, probably some L brackets screwed to the lip

yeah just slide the plate to the drivers side. same height and all

 

IMO the same height would look horrible. i've seen it off to the right and mounted with a hideaway bracket and it flips up.

I had a hideaway plate but want a more sturdy design. Ill be doing a lot of highway driving to/from college. Want it to be sturdy. I want peace of mind when driving back through illinois when I pass state troopers.

 

Couple L brackets is how mine is mounted up prob spent like 3 dollars for the brackets and **** to secure it best thing I've done to the car so far

Not sure about CA but in MA its a Moving Violation, with Points on your Insurance

 

its just 25bux for us. its a fix it tix, they usually tack it on if your speeding or other higher price ticket.
