smoked headlights anyone?
smoked headlights anyone?
I've got a contact who said he might possibly be interested in making some polyurethane covers (much like the clear bras, but twice as thick and smoked) for our headlights, to give it a "smoked" appearance. The process and materials are very expensive so he won't do it unless there is a good demand for it. It's very professional looking, he makes tail-light covers for mustangs currently....

Yes, that's why I didn't ask about the tail-lights since many people can do them on their own. This would be for the headlights...and this stuff is incredibly durable, much better looking than "night shades", and it isn't vynl, it's high-grade polyurethane.
HeadlightArmor.com has them already. I have a set that's been sitting in a box on my floor for a month now. I'll put mine on this weekend and take pictures for you guys. I just haven't had the car in a month as you guys know. I'm sure they'll look sweet.

goo spoiler..
Look at the tires on that fckin cobra lol.
Yeah, if it helps make smoking my headlights easier, i'm in. I can remove it later on if I want right?
The hid blue might look good against my blue paint.

I'm with ya there! I'm not worried about tickets locally, but I would like the ease of removing them.
Not sure to be honest how easily they could be removed and put back on. I know they can be removed easily...but placing them back on correctly might be difficult. Also, they do not have to be nearly as dark as the pics with the mustang, they would probably provide a slight dark tint to the lights, nothing outrageous that would attract attention.

Someone with insight please respond!
I went to the referenced site;
http://www.headlightarmor.com/index....on=Custom&ID=4
& they look great but if a regular guy cannot have them on @ night because his visibility is shot to heck then they are not much good for those of us who want smoke. How about a 50% tint or something? Any ideas guys. Maybe stronger fog lights??

Greetings,
Yes we have had these available for some time.
One of the members here picked up a set and sent in some pic's. Did a real nice job installing them!

Two others bought the HID Blue versions in the past month; there might be other photos floating about.
We joined a while ago and have been evaluating where our forum sponsorship budget will be allocated this year. If there is enough interest I am sure we can work something out.
We use a tough impact resistant vinyl for all of our headlight protection kits. Don't confuse them with overlays made from sign vinyl (thinner than copy paper), these were designed first and foremost to protect the lights. While the smoke versions are intended for show / track vehicles they are quite popular. Can you see at night with them. I guess it depends. They are going to have a similar effect as tinting your entire windshield. Can't make them look dark and have no effect on output. Some hardly notice they are there and others rely on for aftermarket driving lights.
For almost all applications our HID Blue and GT Yellow outsell smoke. For those who want to protect the lights from becoming sandblasted and looking like sea-glass, but don't want colors we also have clear versions (3X thicker than typical clear bras).
They are all adhesive backed. They can be removed at some point in the future, but they can only be used once.
More info on the testing we did of a variety of smoke kits
Additional FAQ
As I said, we are in the final stages of allocating our ad dollars for the summer. Let us know if you are interested and I'll see if I can get us on-board as a vendor.
