splash guard pics/opinions

couldnt find a thread about this. as the cobalt is my daily driver, i want to protect the paint and body as much as i can. i was thinking of putting the gm splash guards (17800582 and 17800583) on my car. i was wondering if anybody has any pics of these on a sc or what y'all think about it. i dont wanna make it ugly, but i think the would look better than rock chips 'n crap. thx.

Could I get a part number on these? My local stealership could not confirm they had or did not have any that would fit the supercharged.

Thnx

I'll get that to you this evening/afternoon. I know they come in pairs of two, and are like $20 for a pair of 2....

This is for the molded ones, not universal style, correct? My stealership quoted me $59/pair for the ones they could not confirm or deny would fit.

I'd like the part no too - my dealer claims that with the ground effects, the moulded ones dont fit.

ps: for those who dont understand why we want these: we dont want father winter to throw the sand they use on the roads all over our paint. this is where/why all canadian cars start to rust.

I just spent the day looking for splash guards for the SC. The mechanic at the dealer recommended some after market moulded guards. I checked and the moulded ones at Part Source, Canadian Tire and WalMart would only work on the rear, where the mouldings aren't as thick at the wheel well. The size was "model 2" of the 4 models of moulded guards. I test fitted them. When I tried to fit them on the front, the mouldings were so thick that it made the guard fit at a wierd angle - not cool. I guess the only option is to go for a flat, or non-moulded splash guard for the SC. If anyone finds a nice one, let us know. I saw those blue bowtie ones, but there was no other colours. Also, I am looking for something softer than the cheap plastic ones, and something that isn't too long, because our cars are lower than average cars. I'd even go for plain black, if it met those criteria, but I've only seen cheapo plastic / fiber glass in the flat versions. The moulded one was so nice, cheaper (can you believe that?) but didnt fit the front....

I don't suppose you'd know the Canadian part number, would you?

Edit: And were they the same for front and rear?

If its somewhere on the USDM package, let me know....
The part no. is the same for the front and rear.

I've mocked them up on the car, but have not installed them as of yet. I had the sides of them that face outward painted body color to match. They look pretty decent...

I have the un-molded GM plain jane splash gaurds on my 07 SS. I only put a set on the front, cuz I live in the Pocono Mts and they dump the kitchen sink on the roads here in the winter. I tucked them in nice and they blend well. If you want I can post a pic for you.

Oooh, I forgot to ask, do they use pre existing holes or need to be drilled?

I think that small holes have to be drilled in the innnerfenders, and then there are little tab/screws that are included with the splash guards.

Here is one more pic for an idea of clearance. I did drill but only three holes. Two into the inner fender and one into the plastic rocker. I did not drill into any metal. I just made the holes smaller than the included screws...(duh). There were no plastic clips with these and the plastic clips of the inner fender did not seem to match up.
The GM part # (USA) is 12497400 and the list is $15.99 for a pair. I have and exta pair but the shipping would prob cost more than the flaps. This is a standard universal design for GM. They make these with all kinds of stuff like bowties and whatnot. The dude at my dealership told me the molded ones would not fit an SS. I like these anyway, they are really hard to notice. Hope this helps you guys out with the questions.

I wanted the Chevy ones for my '02 Silverado and I was told they wouldn't fit either since I had the black fender flares....so I bought some aftermarket custom molded ones and they fit great...I saw someone else with the Chevy ones on their truck with the flares and they fit just fine...sometimes Chevy just doesn't get it I guess....
