SS Badge Question

Is there any way to paint the inside of the badge (where it comes white from the factory) black instead of white and keep the chrome edge chrome? Or can I buy these somewhere?

You mean like this

If so, you cant buy them. You have to paint them. It took me about 3 hours start to finish.

Basically, buy some new emblems. Take some painters tape and tape over the entire emblem. Then take your finger nail and run it along the inside of the emblem against the raised edge. Take a sharp razor blade and cut the tape where you just ran your finger. Peel that out and take some sand paper and sand the white area a little. Then a few coats of paint and a couple coats of clear.

Once they are all dry, take some tape and put it under the emblems on the car and to one side of them. That way you know where to put them and get the straight. Pull you old emblems off and clean the old sticky stuff off some. Then stick the new ones on. let it sit for a few days before you wash the car. And wait until the paint 100% dry before you put the emblems on, cause you need to put some pressure on them to get them to stick good. And you dont want to be putting finger prints on you new emblems.

What did you use to re-apply the badge and what did you use to paint?

When you buy new emblems, they have a 3m tape on the back of them already. So, dont remove the paper backing until after they are painted.

For paint I used all Dupli-color products. 2 coats Sandable primer---3 coats Gloss black paint---4 coats clear Clear coat(15-20mintes between coats)

The best way to tape the emblems off, is to tape all the way around it. That way no paint or clear gets onto the adhesive backing, cause if it does it'll make it not stick as well.

so did you spray or brush the paint, if i was to do this i would just use a few coats of nail polish (after sanding) then a coat of the clear nail polish IMO
damn that looks good tho
