ss body kit question

i have a base cobalt and was wondering how much money do you think it would be to buy the ss front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts and have them painted and installed? I was thinking around 2 thousands dollars for all that. what do you think?

Easily for 2 thousand. Get the parts you want, and have them professionally painted. Save yourself some green by installing the parts yourself, it's fairly easy.

Ok, I have the SS 2.4L and I would like to put the Rear SS/SC lower rear ground effect on my car. Well someone posted that I could not simply do that w/o drilling holes. So what would I have to do to replace my ground effect with the SS/SC?

well to have the SC ground effects youll need to get a SC bumper. there are several cuts made in to the SC bumper where the ground effect connects into the bumper. so you may be able to cut the holes in your SS but it would be easier to get the SC bumpers and make sure they will fit.

You can get all that stuff for under $500.00 but you have to get it painted. Check this post below.... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...6&postcount=26

Because that kit isn't designed for the SS. You can make it fit, but even so, he specifically said he wants the SS/SC rear lip.

I would recommend the following. Get the rear lip piece. Then go take off your stock piece, and see what would be involved. If its just some simple cuts that you can make on your own, then your set. If not, you needed to get the rear lip anyway, so no money lost. Go buy the SS/SC rear facia and complete the job.

Is the bumper and ground effect something that anyone can do? or do you need to take it to the shop for something like that? Because it sounds more than just a matter of unscrewing somethings and pulling the piece off.......

i was told by a proff. body shop that the holes that need to be cut into the bumpers are very hard to do and have to be cut perfect for the lip to look right.....best bet is to buy the whole bumper and sell your stock bumper on ebay....and if you buy the sideskirts (dont need these if your an ss), the rear/ bumpers and front/rear lips.....its gonna run you close to 2000 with parts/paint/labor.....order the parts for cheap from somewhere and get them painted and install em yourself and could save your self close to a 1000 bucks.....thats your best route...if you kno wwhta your doing...

How much would it cost for the bumper (SS/SC) piece that will fit just right on my Cobalt SS 2.4L and stay on well?
