"SS Style" Hood Owners

when I had my 97 and 01 Cavaliers I was always thinking about getting the Camaro SS style hood. For the Cavalier's it was always a fully functional hood. Atleast the ones I always saw were. The hood had like a tunnel built in that directed the air straight into the intake. Now my brother has an SS style hood on his S10 Extreme and it doesn't do the same. Its pretty much just an opening that allows cool air into the engine bay. Can someone let me know what the one for the Cobalt is like. Or better yet can someone take a pic of theres and post it for me? Thanks for the help and the pics guys

I've seen a few people on here have that style hood and I was just wondering if infact it forced air to the intake or just let air into the engine compartment. I just wanna see a pic...

You can and you cant. It will not be a fully functional "ram air" hood simply because you cant really force air into the turbo. But on a side note, it might be cooler air, but even that is some what negated once your turbo is spooling, due to the high temp. You have to ask yourself is slightly colder air worth 600.00?

There are some fitted for the SS/SC that I think are actual ram air hoods. I may be mistaken, feel free to correct me if I am. But I dont believe anyone has even attempted a ram air hood design for the SS/TC yet. I know the majority of the ones you see are just letting cooler air into the engine bay.

Ok thats what I was wondering. Cause I was thinking that instead of getting the CAI if I got a SRI with the "ram air" hood would it kinda be the same? I ask cause I just happen to love the way that the SS style hood looks. Always have...

there is one company that makes the hood for the N/a's with two slits and a channel that forces the air into right above where the intake would be on a 2.2 and 2.4, and iirc the short ram for the LNF sits the filter in the same general area as a short ram on a n/a?

so it miiiiiiiiiiiiight make a difference.

Trufiber used to make that style of hood where it channelled the air to the airbox of the 2.4 na cars, but they've since discontinued it. All the others I've seen just dump the air into the engine bay.
