Why? Does it melt the lens or something?

That sucks! I need 2 new lens and I've been junkyard hunting for em...

Just wish I didn't have to buy a second set of headlights just to get the lens covers.

After doing this project I think I may start doing retrofits locally in Oklahoma. I've already cleared making a paint booth next to my garage at the house Ill be renting in Oklahoma, soooo yea =)

Got my shrouds in today... Holy crap the E-46 R Extended pretty much fills the entire reflector bowl opening. I also got the harness Ill need for the 55W kit, Just waiting on the HID Kit to come in and Ill re-assemble.

It looks like I won't have time to finish this project before the move so I probably won't update this thread until I get them finished and re-assembled/installed. I may end up selling them as well, I haven't really decided.

Here's the latest photos of the "mock up" before I paint the shrouds (If I paint the shrouds)

Alright, so now that I have everything I've reached a crossroads. I don't think Ill be selling these. In fact I'm going to make these even more custom. Once I settle back in once I move, Ill be purchases a set of CCFL Angel Eyes and mounting them behind the shrouds and drilling holes in the small detail ring around the shroud. I'm pretty much going to stick with white since the whole red color on front of the car lights wise is pretty much illegal everywhere.

I'm going to take even another step forward and to cut costs, I'm going to frankenstein my Gen 1's for the lenses and the High Beams. I'm going to fabricate a mount for the Gen 1 High Beams to fit in the turn signal housing on the stockers to allow it to float in front of the turn signal. I am then going to reinstall the turn signals behind the high beams so I don't lose turn signal capability (Thus making a "Ring" around the High Beams for a turn signal.

Once I get that done, the project will be complete. To use as much as I can from the Gen 1's, I will be using the Gen 1 projectors and retrofitting those into my wife's Nissan Altima with the standard Halogen H1 bulbs (Since they are bi xenon and so is her car). The only thing I will have remaining from this project is 2 custom retrofit projects on 2 seperate cars, the Gen 1 assembly, chrome assembly and the stock LEDs that look to ricer for my taste.

I will then recycle my H1 6000k HIDs I have in the Gen 1s and order new bulbs and put in H11 Fogs to match (5000k).

Its A LOT of work so far and I'm almost finished with the project I started out with but by making them more unique and one of a kind, My wife will also benefit from it.

LOL, easier said that done. I still have to fab the mounts for the High Beam bowls =P

I did finally decide on a color for the shrouds, I decided on red because my calipers, strut bar sway bar and interior trim pieces are all red. Here's what they look like:

And no, I didn't spray them right next to the furniture.

Shrouds are finished with paint. They are curing the final coat of clear now. Should be good to handle tomorrow. Hopefully this project will be done this weekend but the wife is nagging me about packing =/

About to head out to manufacture the mounts for the high beams. Once I get that done, I need to run to the hardware store and get some bolts and nuts for the projector anchors, then I have to tear open my Gen 1s...

They might be reassembled tonight if I can get it all done by dinner. We shall see =)

I didn't end up doing the High Beam transplant because I would have to modify the hell out of them to get them to fit just right. I made the mounts but because they were H1 bulbs with the funky ass clip holding the bulbs in, I had to rethink the actual mount.

My shrouds fell off while I was driving to the local store for smokes, I have to crack them back open tomorrow or Monday and JB weld/rethink the "adhere to projector" thing.

Alright, Fixed the "falling shroud" I temp placed it in with Hot Glue and forgot to add the JB Weld to finalize it. Hitting one of those "Just scraped the asphalt" construction zones transitions that feel like you bottom your car out doing 20mph.

Allowed them to cure for about 2 hours, reheating them and resealing them. I think the heat from the HID will help the curing process tomorrow.

I will try tomorrow. I spent the whole day putting these things together. This morning the only 2 pieces put together was the reflector bowl that snaps into the housing.

I had to fix the issue with the shrouds. Ill try to get them tomorrow night.

I was going to take some pictures of it but they aren't aimed correctly. The driver's side is lower than the passenger side. When I get around to aiming them this week Ill post pictures. The line is REALLY fuzzy though but the lenses that came with the projectors aren't clear... they have like circles of ridges all the way from the center to the outer edge. These things are brighter than the street lights on my street (They are using the commercial grade lights that take like 10 minutes to fully warm up)
