you cant. its a part of the whole airbag assembly part. i accidentally bent mind after hitting the horn with my hand. they had to replace the whole airbag assembly, which if it wouldnt have been covered under warranty had costed me an arm and a leg. so dont **** with it haha.

heres the thing. if you slap on another emblem overtop of the chevy bowtie, which you would do because you cant take off just the bowtie and swap it with another one, you are making a big mistake. say you get in an accident and the airbag deploys. that cool ss emblem you added as now turned in to a bullet that is going to shoot off right at you.

I've seen it done before. The factory cap has tiny teeth that hold it in place. He had to pull it off, smooth the "circle" where it was so it's flat and the new one is held in by double sided tape (like emblems).When/if the air bag deploys it won't be any diff than the factory cap.

yup, airbag swap with an hhr ss or something with the same wheel...even the corvettes have the newer 3-spoke wheel like on 07+ cobalts

damn.... i personly think they should have made it with that stock like they did with all the other SS badged models.... i was thinking maybe painting it but i believe the bowtie is raised so that would look stupid.

As you can see from this How-to, the airbag assembly runs right up to the cap that has the Chevy bowtie on it.

If you really want to put something else there either get a new steering wheel or have a sticker made.
