Still trying to find shift knob alternative...

So, I haven't really gotten all that much feedback on my regular forum, thought I'd try here! I have a 5 speed LS and need to replace my stock shift knob. This is what mine looks like, and I can not find another ANYWHERE!

Anybody know where I can? Or do you know where I can buy an aftermarket one that will actually fit like this, how it is all connected and not just the top comes off...

Please do not suggest upgrading to a short throw, I can't afford it right now unfortunately :/

Contact TWM, they have a threaded adapter for the HHR SS that goes on top of the stock shaft allowing you to run aftermarket knobs

Sweet man are they trying to sell it, or can you tell me the brand of it/possibly a picture?

I've switched mine about 4 times. I've always just used whatever knob I wanted and made it work. If you're talking about still being able to have the boot be away from the ball like the stock knob, then you need to look for a knob similar to the style that's on there.

Idk what the point of changing from the stock shifter to an aftermarket that looks just the same is though.

Alright maybe I'll find one that is just longer. Online haven't had much luck finding any, maybe I'm looking at the wrong sites??? And all I want is something that won't chip and slice my hand... I like the design on these stock silver ones, but sucks the quality is sh-t. So design-wise not too picky, just want something simple.

I know pep boys and such sell the ball style knobs, but they're just the knob and a little bit of a base, not as long as the stock style. They're held with three set screws and you'll have to figure a way to hold the boot up. I fed a zip-tie through the opening on mine and used that to hold it closed and in place. Then again, my shifter is now a yuengling tap handle, so it sits down pretty far.

Hmm yeah bought one at Pep Boys but it just didn't look like it would fit easily. Damn it why can't GM just orice their f-ing items to match the quality... CHEAP! Hell, I would even pay $50 for a new one to last a few years at a time. But $120???? That is completely ridiculous.

Sorry for bitching but something like a gear stick replacement should not take this long, and should not cost that much.

RAAAAWR just want a Subie >: (

It should be a press on knob if it's OEM

it is OEM.

so should I smack it down? it rotates almost 90 degrees from center each way.
or is it held on straight by plastic that probably wore away?

I'd say yank off the stock knob, put glue all on the inside of that bad boy and slap it back on. But it's almost 3AM so I'm no sure my thoughts are a bit out there at this point lol

Isn't it a 90 degree pull ?! turn the little ring where the shift boot is to 90 degree and pull it it should remove very easily (this was what I have to do for mine)

He's telling you the wrong thing. He probably has a SS/NA or other.
That knob is pressed on. You gotta get that cap off and there will be an allen screw or something. Undo that then basically pry the knob off.
