I have HID low's with 50w Ballasts in my cobalt right now. 2 things

I have never gotten flashed by anyone.... ever... but i also aimed mine down a bit.

Secondly, Get the Hi/Low kit. It will be well worth it. Im actually buying 3bspec Hi/Low kit in the spring... along with fogs. Just because i do mostly night driving and where i live its rual towns with lots of neighborhoods that connect. not a whole lot of people around so i would use the Highs.

But having them in stock housing isn't bad. no more blinding than some of the BMW i see or Audi's..... or Lexus.

Well if aiming them down helps then i'd definitely do that. How hard is it to install? If i needed to return back to stock, is that very hard? Also, would i be better off with the 35w ballast, or 50w? Whats the difference.

Thanks so much for helping me out.

50w is brighter but also runs hotter. It also has a tendency to wash out a bit of the color so an 8k will look closer to a 6k.

Install is extremely easy! Hardest part would have to be mounting the ballast's which is really easy!

well if you do HI/LOW u can only get 35w Ballast from 3bSpec(which i highly reccommend going with)(i had a bulb go and they had a new one to me in 2 days!!)
but if you stick with lows def 50W worth the extra dough! I love mine.. But i want the HI/LOW with fogs.

This is true! so if you want an 8k look order a 10k bulb. Plus the guys at 3bspec will help you out if you talk to them. Excellent customer service. top notch. remember..... you get what you pay for! and if i have to spend extra dough for top notch service... ****... i will

ddmtuning has also treated a lot of people pretty well. Though they are not a site sponsor.

Last question.. Whats the deal with the HID Kit Wiring Harness etc. I take it thats the same as the DRL module that i hear about? I think i'll get them from DDMTuning because a great price / warranty, and figure the hi/low 9007 at 6000k would be the best. I'd probably end up getting the fog light kit from 3bspec.

some people have run them without the harness some people just pull the drl fuse. But search on here for that info. As I have not personally done HID's on these cars I can not fully advise on that front.

i think as long as you dont get 50 watt 5000k HID's you should be generally OK as to glaring, but nothing will beat a good cutoff. having 35watt 3,000K HID's in my stocks for about a year, i never EVER got flashed. When i followed other cobalts at meets and **** to different spots and we rolled together no1 compained of me blinding them or anything. seemed to just be cool colored headlights. now with Gen 2's it seemed my cutoff was worse and more glaring than stock untill i modified it

I had thought about the 50 watt 8000ks in the 4th gens but been worried about the heat from them.

Thanks to everyone who responded with the info and pics I actually want...

Yeah I could buy the new 4th gens, but I really dont care anymore, these are already my second set of projectors, it just a waste of money for a cutoff line that just blows ass, no matter how much aiming you do.

I think I might just get a Hi/low 9007 kit for the stockers since i need to pass inspection next year anyway and these projectors wont (no more high beams )

kinda new on the whole hid thing, but if you install hid will they be on all the time? as apposed to the auto settings in the car now which turns on your headlights if it's dark enough outside? same questions for foglights aswell. btw i'm driving a canadian car if that matters...

Well with hids, you want to disable your daytime running lights, they cause way too many problems, and it will save you time and money by just pulling the fuse for the DRLs. You can keep your auto lights no problem. And I don't know how your fogs work in Canada, but mine are on a push button so they are not automatic for me.

Back on topic, don't know whose cars these are, just random pics from the gallery
