Anyone know the weight of a stock hood? And how much a OEM CF hood weights??

Also does anyone have a pic of a red cobalt with a oem CF hood??

Ok, this is all I could find out.

The Import Trendz vented hood by versus is single sided only and saves 15lbs acording to their website:

"The hood is made of durable fiberglass material topped with Grade A carbon fiber material offering a weight reduction of approximately 15 lbs."

The fiberglass portion of the hood is where the bulk of the weight is. You should save at least another 6-7lbs with a double sided c/f hood.

Who knows what the stock one weighs?

 

im sure someone with a carbon hood has a stock hood laying around they could weigh, if not ill weigh mine when my rk sport comes in

 

so the hood saving 15 lbs weighs what? if we know the weiht of that we know the weight of the stock hood.

 

the stock hood is still quite light, i picked it off my car with one hand, and my hip.
i bet its under 40 lbs.

 

wow, well 15-22 lbs lighter is significant I think. I mean it wont do much as far as performance, but its nice to see that it is actually lighter by a margin

 

Yea I agree. However how many times do companies have something about weight reduction and it ends up not being true. I'm sure its lighter though. I have been wondering this same question for a long time. I would like to get a double sided cf oem hood for mine. If you can save 15 pounds with a single sided, then a doubled sided should be a few pounds ligter yet. Someone has to know how much the stock hood weighs...Bumb
