So I am looking for some new headlights for my 06 SS and am wondering if there is a difference between the SS's and other models? I found some TYC's through amazon but its saying it fits the ss but in a note it says excludes ss.

The reason I want some is so I can do projector retros. I painted my stockers black like 3 years ago and my driver side is starting to fog and get hazy. Can I just take em apart again and clean the lenses?

The two differences I know of:

1. Level IV cars had slightly tinted lenses; others did not.
2. Early cars had an extra amber reflector in the headlight - later cars did away with the amber reflector, and used an amber bulb.

 

ok cool thanks I liked the way my amber lens matched my orange car when i painted em so ill look for those again.

as for aftermarket oem style headlights, how well to tyc's stack up?

 

SS SC/TCs are slightly tinted, plus the chrome looks a bit "clearer" 05-06 have amber corners, 07+ have clear corners, both have orange sidemarkers.
