Sylvania silverstarts

Whats up everyone. I picked up a set of Sylvania Silverstars the other day at the local Auto Zone. Just wondering if anyone else was running them on their 'balt? If so, how do you like them and how do they compare to the stock bulbs? I had them on my previous car, an '88 RX-7, and they made drastic difference, but that was b/c the RX-7 was so old and the stock headlights just plain sucked. I plan on installing them tommorrow, but I just thought i'd try to get some feedback before I did so.

btw, I meant to type "Silverstars" on the thread title. Sorry.

These are REALLY nice. Adds a nice clean white light to your lights. I'd recomend them to everyone.

But there is a problem.

It makes you want more.

They work really well. Nice and white, does not have a yellow tinge at all. I do highly recommend. You will definitely be pleased.

I have the GE night hawks, I like them. I find they are whiter, it gets ride of the yellow ting. I find driving up North at night that they are brighter. Being brighter it would make sense they are worse in the snow and rain because the light would reflect more of the moisture. Thats my opinion.

Mine has had no problem with burning out or anything of the sorts. Works just like OEM quality. I have had them on for about 5 months.

Had them on my old car, had to replace them 3 times in a year, went back to standard bulbs without having to replace any for the last 2 years I had the car.

They definitely look nicer, but they die WAY too quick!
The main reason why I decided to keep OEM bulbs is for that reason only. I don't feel like pulling out my headlights every time they burn out.

I have had the Silverstar Ultras for a couple months now and I think they are good bulbs. They are 10x better than stock, if for any reason just because they throw light out in a longer pattern, not necessarily that they are brighter. However, I think that they are also brighter than stock. They are also whiter than stock but not as white as the Luminics I used to have. I loved the Luminics I had on before but they burnt out extremely quickly so I won't buy them again. Anyways, that's my two cents.

I liked them, used them for a while and gave them to a friend when I got my HIDs. Really pretty color and nice light output. Also I got them free, so that made them better!

damn it sucks with the visibility during bad weather. I still have to think about this becuase the positives and the negatives are like 50/50

i had these on my stock headlights. they're pretty sweet. i think its worth it but they do die a bit. you can see the difference in whiteness between the hi and lo beam after a few months. i have them on the dual halo projectors now and i didn't like them. i liked how the HIDs looked in projectors. anways sorry, on the stock headlights i say take them.

another note: the reason everyone says they are worse in bad weather is cause for some reason, don't ask me why, white reflects off the water drops more than yellow light does. and since they are whiter they reflect off the water more. wow i just caught myself sounding like a nerd (one of the few things i remember from high school)

well, visibility in rain/snow can't be too un-bearable, b/c look at cars like STIs, BMWs, Lexus's, etc etc that come stock with HID lighting, which is an alot more intense white than what the Silverstars put out, and I dont see all those high end cars pull off the road when it starts raining, lol. I had them for about 6 months in my RX-7 right up until I sold it, and I had no problems with them burning out or anything. I'm putting them in today so i'll mark the calender, and if they ever burn out, i'll let everyone know the timespan they lasted. Hopefully I wont have to post back here regarding that any time soon, lol.

what bulbs would you recommend for the projector headlamps then, i plan on purchasing those in the future so i was wondering what the best bulbs would be for them.

And how hard is it to change out the bulb on the fogs?

Had mine on since February. Definitely better than stock.

I didn't direct compare, but I've had no problems in the rain and Michigan snow.

well, me and a friend took a shot at putting them in today, and had no luck. I refuse to remove the entire headlight assembly just to put some measley bulbs in. We went over to his '05 Focus, and he showed me how easy his bulbs are to take in/out. He has APC bulbs on his Focus, and it takes him no more than like 1 minute to take each bulb out and install a new bulb. As for my car.......how does one remove the bulb? Is it neccesary to take the assembly out?

Well, I have the 2.2 and since I felt like it, I went to the store and got myself a pair of Silverstars. Awesome lighting, all I can say. Much better than stock and really makes the car stand out at night.

As for how to put them, yeah, you do need to take out the entire headlight to swap bulbs. Once you get used to it, it comes off pretty quickly, didn't take me more than 3 minutes to finish each one of them. Try pulling out the black pins that hold the top of your bumper off. It gives you a little more room to move the headlamp out. Good luck.
