Teflon Coating for your car
Has anyone heard of spraying a protective coating on your car called Teflon Coating? A good friend of mine owns a 06 Dodge Ram and every year he has the dealership he bought it from Teflon Coat it. Is it worth having my SS coated? I live in MI so our winters suck ass
and anything I can do to preserve the look and life of my car would help. Hopefully some of you have a good answer for me cause no matter what I do my baby keeps slowly deteriorating.

I seriously dont get how this stuff is coming about again. Car dealerships have had it for years, literally is just a better wax, they throw a warranty on with such a low rate of return the payout is huge.
We use Resistall Coatings at my dealership, some use Scotch Coating/Dupont Sheild/Zurich Shield blah blah its all the same and all over rated.
They say apply once and it "bonds" and you never have to wax your car again blah blah BULLSHIT.

jiffy lube sells the same crap for your engine "teflon" coating, and Mike ill let you know, ive got a couple rusty shitholes with 230k miles lol. Guy at my work just bought one for $1750, rebuilt the motor and went big turbo, still needs rear 1/4's but hes got like $4000-5000 in it and makes maybe low to mid 300's.
There isn’t an all-in-one easy way to get around protecting your paint. Dealerships have another “underbody coating” ploy as well. When I bought my brand new Cobalt in 2010 they tried to scare me into undercoating my car saying that it was going to “rust away” after just a few years unless I got the frame undercoated.
Anyway, here are a few simple steps to keeping your paint in excellent condition. I recommend doing this at least once a year:
1. Clay bar your entire body to remove contaminants in the paint. This will smooth the paint out and get it ready for buffing. Here is a good product I recommend:
2. If the paint is rough condition, get a rubbing compound to further remove contaminants. You can skip this step if needed. This will remove medium to heavy scratching in the clear coat. Don’t over do it as you want to keep as much clear coat on the car as possible.
3. Polish the paint to bring out maximum shine. Polishing compound is not rubbing compound, there is a difference.
4. Seal the paint. The best sealant I’ve ever used is Atuoglym High Definition Wax. Wax is not polish, another misconception. It’s a little costly, but will last you a long time. This wax does not wear off and my paint stays smooth throughout the year.
These are my steps I use on all of my cars, my friend’s cars, and my family’s cars. I guarantee anyone would want to buy the cars I’ve maintained as the paint looks like it was right out of the factory. (I have no idea why the forum is double posting the URL links lol)
