It's satin black like I want and says it's chip resistant which seems like it would be ideal for wheels.

i use the stuff at work to chip guard rocker panels and what not at work when its a lighter chip guard. the sem stuff isnt a real heavy ship guard and if you use to much and its baked in a spray booth it levels out.
are you trying to save money and painting your wheels the cheap way?

^ x2 Powdercoating has a higher quality finish and is a lot more durable than painting the wheels... it cost me $184 with tax to get all four wheels sandblasted and powdercoated gloss black. You can rattle can the wheels or paint them, but if you want the finish to last for any considerable time and don't want chips it's worth it to get them powdercoated.

and ill be flat out honest......i wouldnt even recommend a body shop using base coat with hardener and ceramic clear(a.k.a scratch resistant clear) you dont really realize it but wheels tend to take quite the bit of abuse between road wear, chemicals from cleaning them, washing them and what ever else they go through. theres no way rattle can, base with clear will be able to withstand all that for a long period of time.
my opinion if your going to paint your wheels....do it right the first time and save yourself the headache of having to redo them in the future. heres a perfect example of why not to use rattle can or some crap like that. i had a gto come in for a detail. the wheels were very dirty. so i sprayed them down with an over diluted degreaser that is usually safe on every single rim that ive come across. well sure enough after sitting for only like 10 seconds it started to lift the guys rattle can job off his rims.

if your trying to do them cheap id still say powderocat them. just save up your money for it. lets be real here. every time you have to redo the wheels because they get screwed up is going to add up in time and money. just do it right and powdercoat them.
just rattle can them satin black from walmart bro. Costs what, 8 bucks. Try not to hit a curb, then next year, if there lookin shitty, rattle can them about for another 8 bucks. Mine now are painted, but my rattle can job held up just perfect for like 6 months actually. i sanded, hit with primer, and sprayed the **** out of it. I was actually suprised how well it lasted. And just dont let anyone use any crazy chemicals on your wheels. I usually wash mine with soap and water, if i need to ill get black magic rim cleaner. Done.

My rims are painted with a rattle can from walmart. Been about year, I'm gonna give them a fresh coat soon with a nice gloss clear coat. I don't think it's worth the extra 170 dollars to have them powder coated. When it looks just as good with rattle can, as long as you do it the right way
for me rims are rims ya know, they can have texture, your not trying to colormatch your car perfect or anything. and half of the time they will be the dirtiest part of your car. If I could get them powdercoated for cheap, hell yea i would, be everywhere around here is expensive and i dont know if they can get the look i want like I can with car paint

And all you powdercoat fanbois can gtfo.
I'm not spending that much on a car that I'm only keeping for 2 more years max. I could rattle can them 4 times in the next 2 years and still not spend what I would to powdercoat them. How clear do I have to make it for you?
