stock headlights with retrofit of projectors.

The aftermarket ones look pretty ricey and Ive heard of many issues with the halo's breaking and them not being able to handle high heat hid's...

obviously you know nothing of what your talking about..

HIDs give off much LESS heat then halogens. The halos do not break just sometimes the leds go out. easy fix.

obviously I said, "I heard". I dont have first hand experience as I find those headlights junk. I think the melting was referring to the wiring harness's melting because of poor wiring. I have no idea what melted just heard something did.

The halo's breaking is right, the ring itself doesnt break but the LED's go out...I have heard of that happening a lot actually. And some gen's have 3 led's (not in a halo) and they go out too.

Don't get the halos. They f'ing suck. I had them for a few months in my car and they were cool for the first 2 days then everything started breaking. I was replacing the LEDs/Halos so much that I just stopped caring and it looked like hell. Black-painted stockers ftw!!!!!! Looks 10000x nicer too

I didn't tint mine, I cracked 'em open and painted the housings.

There's a how-to on here somewhere on how to do it. Pretty easy, just takes some time.

*edit* here ya go... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...int+headlights

have a few questions that the OP might want answered too. What lights come in the retrofits? NOt the size, I know that. Since there are two lighting locations how does the high/low beam functions work? How are is it to install H.I.D.'s?

I was thinking of CCFL, is the light output that much better than stock before H.I.D.'s?

I really like the look of retrofitting stockers the best but I would never be able to handle the electrical aspect. I would be willing to buy a pair if they weren't that much more than projectors. lol

The projectors we use in retrofits are called Bixenon which mean they are used for the low and the high beam. The projectors have a cutoff shield that is mounted to a solenoid, when the lows are on the cutoff shield is in place, when the highs are turned on the solenoid activates and drops the cutoff shield down to let more light out of the projector. Wiring HIDs isnt that difficult if you know basic wiring.

what about the different gen lights that have two idk "light sockets"? Is one for low and one for high? I'm very lost about the retrofits that the venders are selling. I understand how yours work now thank you.

Vendors dont sell retros they sell aftermarket projectors with LEDs and Halos and those use a projector for low beams and a halogen bulb for highs.

Ok so I would buy aftermarket projectors, and put H.I.D.'s in my projector location and leave the halogen bulb there?

That makes no sense. You'd replace the halogen bulb w/ the HID, not leaving the halogen bulb in there at the same time

ok, if you wanted HID high and low you'd have to buy two separate bulbs for the highs and lows. You'd essentially need two kits.

HID highs are pretty pointless unless if its in a retro or stock HID projector housing. Save the $$ and just stick with halogen highs and HID lows. Many car manufacturers do this anyway (Acura TL, etc.).

ooohhhhh ok. do a lot of people run two kits on here? Are the highs on halogens that much brighter than the lows of H.I.D.'s? Would be nice if venders would make a headlight like yours.
