Time for spring project... Pillar Time!!!

Alright boys and gals, i gave in to my desire, i ordered a new set of pillars out of a cobalt coupe, they ran me about $18 each..... here goes, over the course of the next month, i am going to be constructing a dual gauge pod set up with the addition of another set of tweeters. I am also contemplating whether or not to make a spot for the raptor performance shift light that i am getting in a bout 3 weeks. As soon as i get a good photoshop, i will post pics of what my pillars are going to look like, as well as the rest of my interior, I have also contemplated usind some plexy glass in the pillar along with some led's behind it, and cut out a sweet looking SS in each side, which would light up when i have my neons on... I am also going to move and mold my music interface into that empty black spot that we have in our dash cluster, and place the switch for my underglow, and a switch for me second set of fog lights on either side of it. All of the silver dash trim pieces are going to be color matched, and I am going to smooth out the places where the heated seat switches should be on the SS/SC and make them flush, those will be the locations of my switches. The 2 pillars are also going to be color matched, to Arrival Blue, forgot to mention what color I have, I will be posting many pictures throughout the course of the project. The second gauge i am mounting for the time being is an Autometer A/F ratio gauge, it was a good deal, so i wasnt going to pass it up, just a temp until I order my Aeroforce Interceptor SS edition......

No side air bags on your car, right? I don't want you to build a gun with bullets aimed at your head.

Why does everyone say this? I am confused because if I mount a double pod in the same area as my stock boost gauge, not higher but located in the same spot on a blank pillar, how is this different from my stock A-pillar? I have side airbags right now and I don't see the stock gauge knocking me out.

The stock boost gauge on an SS/SC is mounted in such a location on the a-pillar that it would not effect air bag deployment. It is recessed under the surface of the pillar and mounted below the air bag. The air bag is in the upper half of the a-pillar. However, anything on the surface of the a-pillar would be shot forward in the event of deployment. A typical gauge pod sits on the surface of the pillar, so it would be thrown forward, right at your head.

The Pod does NOT pop out in an accident!!!!!

it just releases a little bit for the air bag to come out. the airbag comes out from the top of the window, a Pillar pod attached to a non ss pillar would be fine. Once again= Think.

Your saying GM designed this car so that the pillar detaches in an accident? No, It doesnt.

Picture the car stock. The pillar does not pop out in an accident, what would make a difference if a pod was attached to it or not, Its not flying at you. Here is my proof.

I wish I had the skill with fiberglass to mold a pod, but I dont, so im going ot be patient, and wait for these vendors!
