Tinting over dot matrix

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with there tints on the rear windshield at the top where the dot matrix are. My Z24 bubbled up and i want to avoid this on my cobalt. Any info would be good.

It sucks! I had my windows done all but windshield at 5% and that is the only thing that I don't care for. I have heard of people putting black vinyl on the inside of the back window under the dots and then tinting and you can't tell and the dotted area then goes black but then you can't see out of the top of your back window.

The tint is over it just fine and holding but you can see where the tint is attached to the dots and not the glass. Almost looks like fog under the tint up in the dot matrix.

I went to have mine tinted, and the tint guy said that he could only tint the back window up to where the dots start. After he got done i hated it! I am going to go back and have it tinted all the way up.

It can be tinted, It will just take you or whoever tints it a long time to get all of the air bubbles out.

I went with the Black Vinyl option for the dot matrix. All the rest of the glass is 20%. The black vinyl doesn't obscure any of your visibility out of the back window, rearview mirror or turning around physically.

I've no regrets with going for black vinyl on the dot matrix.

your dealer probably has a guy that will do it. and since it is dealer installed, it last as long as the warranty. not long i know, but thats where i had mine done in may, and its still just like day one. I also talked them into doing it for free.

The guy that did my tinting skipped the dots on the side and back windows.... I thought it was a little wierd at first but after I talked to him he said he's done this kinda stuff before and it typically will peel when put over the rubberized dots. It took a little getting used to... but I think it looks alright now. I may end up getting the back dots blacked out, but the side windows look fine.

Mine are tinted over no problems yet and got the warranty, it just takes a little while longer for it to set. If I have problems I can take it back to the tint shop $175.00

Mercury is right I had two cavaliers before my cobalt, the vinyl is the best way to go on the dot matrix then just tint right over it looks great and wont peel!

Can the dots be removed? Do they serve a purpose?

I don't understand what purpose they could serve... it's just something GM does I guess.... you could probably get them off with a razor blade.... haven't thought about trying that.
