hey bowties your rear window looks nice how did you get the tint to lay flat on the dot matrix like that?? mine looks aweful, our tint guy told me to run over it with a wet towel and a credit card but that doesnt work too well.
Also i got mine for $125 using HP film (top of the line) (20% all the way around)but thats only because i work with a tint guy
but usually for 5 windows with HP film it would run around $225

Dude that is one sweet looking ride..!! Congrats!! it looks So freaking sweet yellow...(i have a Black One)..
i tinted my front windshield today. I did 12 inches down my windshield. Those dot matrix really suck though. I think it's really noticable. It looks like a big bubble in the middle of the windshield. Hopefully I can push it down in a few days and make it look better.
This post is a little late in reference to what I'm mentioning it on, but i just joined and was checking this post because I had the same prob with the back window (tint not clinging to those vinyl dots). pretty sure the dots dont have nething to do with the defrosting, my tint guy said it was just a way of shading/tinting (sort of) the window. because the rear window hangs over the passengers in the back, i guess they felt they should shade it a bit for their sake, so they do it with those dots. could be wrong, but that is what i was told, plus this is my first post so i was kind of excited when it was something i mite be able to clear up for neone. if im wrong and someone knows otherwise, do let me know, but im as annoyed with those damn dots too so id like to know their definate purpose, and that is my play on it. But again, i have the same prob with my rear window, and would love to know a solution, or tricks if ne of making it look better.
those dots are their for "uv protection" your back window goes up over ur passengers head. those dots are to help protect the back of their heads from the sun. makes no sense since they dont cover the whole window but thats the answer i got when they tinted my windows cuz they couldn't tint over them
I had mine done, the guy I used computer cut my tint and he did tint over the dot matric he used something that almost look like carbon paper its tacky and yes I have heard of people using black vinyl also. Mine cost me bout 140.00 and like I said mine is all computer cut. He also does head light and tail light tint too.
The dots are baked on, and you can't get them off easily if at all. Been told it is possible to sand them down enough with "#0" steel wool to get tint to stick without the bubbly look. "#0" Steel wool supposedly will not scratch your glass. I say supposedly because I have not witnessed this with my own eyes.
Basically don't get your windows tinted at anyplace that says they can't tint over the dot matrix or doesn't offer the black vinyl alternative. These places don't really know what they are doing, as there are several different ways around the dot matrix (such as the blue elmers glue trick mentioned before).
In tinting, you get what you pay for. The price reflects both the quality of the tint, and the skill of the laborer.
BTW I recommend Hüper Optik Ceramic 30 tint. It's non-metallic (shouldnt interfere with reception of any devices) and is of the highest quality tint ever made.
Note: if you tint below the legal limit of your state, that usually will void the manufacturer's warranty on the tint. Make sure to ask if the businesses' tint warranty goes beyond the manufacturer's warranty and covers tint that is below the limit.
EDIT: I forgot to say, number 0 (zero) steel wool

My tint guys said they would do what is called "Black Out". They mask off the entire car and spray that part (Dot Matrix Area) with spray paint and a finish coat. Like BioHazard said, you don't even look out that part of the window. I had my tint done several months ago and haven't rescheduled to get the Black Out done. I use Mike's Tint in Orange CA. They do several show cars for Mags. The tint turned out good except the Dot Matrix area.
I've got limo on back and one shade lighter on front windows with a 6" strip on front windshield.
Hope this helps someone.
