Turtle Wax ICE Review

Well earlier today I decided to clean up the 2.4. I wasn't going to because I am trading it in but it was getting really bad and I felt bad just looking at it. I remember seeing Turtle Wax ICE that is suppose to leave a very nice shine, while not leaving any residue in seams and on plastic. Also being able to be applied in direct sunlight. I normally hate Turtle Wax but it sounded promising.

Well after using it all I have to say is its baby oil in an expensive bottle. It goes on super smooth and easy, as I was applying it I told myself, how easy this was and that I hope it turns out perfect because so far I am loving it. The bottle says it should turn to a haze as most other's do in about 5 minutes. It never did so I just starting to take it off. It was actually very hard to get off, takes a fair amount of elbow grease to fully get it off. All you end up doing is rubbing oil across your hood. I still didn't get all the oil off but it was night already and I had a hard time seeing so I just left it.

After I realized it was just oil, I took the Mr. Clean gun and spraid the hood down. The coat of wax was already off. So after you apply this it is going to be off the car after 1-2 rain showers or car washes.

I know that when I go out tomorrow the car is going to have a plethora of streaks on it. So what did I learn today? Stick to the normal stuff even if it takes more time and effort to be careful when putting and taking it off.

Sorry for the long review but I recently had a few of my friends tell me they loved it and a few that said they are going to try it. I wanted to give some of you a heads up incase you fell for the trap like me. $16 a bottle

Well honestly, a coat of expensive wax will only last through about 2 to 3 sets of rain.

I normally use Gold Class and sometimes NXT which seem to work good for me. It acually stays on the car. This stuff seems to just lay on top waiting to come off. Although I could have had some left over from the last time I waxed it. I might use some dawn and get everything off the car and give it one more try.

i got a question!...im using the NXT wax, applied with the foam applicator that came with it. i tried buffing it off with a mirco fibre towel and i cant seem to get them off, like pushing it around (as you described with the ICE)....what did i do wrong?

weird on my bottle it said spray it on, wipe it all over the area you have sprayed, then flip the towel over and wipe it away. Nothing about the 5 minute wait, maybe thats why it was so hard to get off, i used it and when i was done the car was shining like hell, maybe u rushed too fast or just didn't get it all because of lighting conditions, cause it does work good. and how do u know its baby oil ? Because it resembles its texture or whatever? Most spray detailers... hmm actually now that i think of it maybe you had the rub in one. I saw that the other day and thought it was a rip since the SPRAY bottle ICE stuff is like 10 bucks, so the towel they sell you is worth 6-7 bucks? Anyways , the spray ICE stuff sounds like it works way better.

Yeah I had the rub on bottle. It would probably make a good detailing spray for in between. But not as a solid wax as it states on the bottle.

Thanks for the heads up. I use nothing else except NXT, and it works great. I like using the paste because I can really put it on thick. I have found that even after 5+ car washes, it's still on, no joke. Not to mention the paint shine and smoothness.....

I wash the car with Dawn once and use a good carnauba wax and zymol polish over that. Then I use a gentle car wash and Griots garage speed shine in between polishes. Wax with carnauba once a year.

I picked up a bottle the other day since someone recommended it to me. I am firm believer and user of Mother's 3 stage and many Meguire's products. I have been deatailing cars since my ass was only 6 inches off the ground. So anyway, I decided to give this crap a try. It was alright BUT i wouldn't not recommend it as a "first of the year" wax as it is NOT a good cleaner nor does it remove swirls on the darker cars. I would use it however as a "right before the show" wax. The problem you probably had with taking it off was because you were using it at night (who waxes their car at night dude) therefore it had no sun to help it in the drying process ...anyhow it's an alright wax for trim pieces and loighter color cars but NOT a good "all around" wax..I also had no problem removing it when applied in direct sunlight

Well I started when the sun started going down because it took a little longer to wash. I thought I might be able to finish it before night fall but I was mistaken I will give it another go after I remove all the old wax and have time to do it during the early day.

please guys dont use dawn to wash your car i know it dissovels wax but it also hurts your clearcoat if your not carefull Don’t use a circular motion, use longitudinal strokes on the horizontal surfaces, and vertical strokes on the vertical surfaces. This will get rid of any wax, oils, or silicone on the paint. just be careful as i have seen people who have applied dawn wrong also make sure its the original blue Dawn dishwashing detergent some new kinds out have microbubbles etc in them. Just rember dawn dissovles grease, wax, etc over time what could happen?

Dawn works great as a stripping wash but yes you have to be careful and gentle. I don't even use a wash mitt with it. I wash with regular gentle car wash then use a hose injector bottle deal filled with dawn. Let it sit for 5 minutes then spray it off. Obviously it will dry too fast on a hot day in the sunlight so I do it first thing in the morning then wax and polish right after. Werks goot!!!

I notice that you have a black car....I wouldn't even waste my time with the ice if this is your first wax of the year...stick to a three stage and then if you want to shine it up again a few weeks later use the ice
