Red face Uneasy about door gaurd plate removal. HELP?!

So as my last thread had said, i am removing the chrome side bars on my doors because the previous owner got the luxury package. I do not like them and have now found that i need to heat the bars and use fishing line to pull them off, and was told to use an adhesive remover, which i have. tonight i started to do one and cut through one just a little bit, i then started worrying about the paint since i have an 05 and was wondering how stuck on these might be, having been on for so long. My dad runs his own business selling all common from extremely rare car emblems and such he aquires so i gave him a call and he told me the 3m tape they use for these bars is meant to permanently adhere them to my car and was worried I might be getting myself into something that could cause a problem and chickened out for now before i barely got down the bar. What does everyone think? should i worry? anyone else taken these off and had problems? THANK YOU

I say you just peel it all off, matta fact, Remove the doors completely and jst hang towels from off the roof. It completely eliminates the pain of waitin for the windows to roll down and rearview mirrors? Ha who needs em just look back.
If anyone says somethin, **** em.. It adds character

I did this on my old LT. but as far as the 3M stuff... if comes off fine. just make sure your goo be gone or whatever is safe for paint and clear coat! lol good luck!
