Here's what I've been looking at. Search around on the site and you'll find a 5 year guarantee on most of the vinyls.

JMHO!
Just to add: This site has a few Cobalt specific items and a large color/pattern selection. They also recommend (and offer) "Rod & Custom Show Creme" as the only suitable product (warranty wise) for use over the vinyl-sounds like good stuff.

finally someone who actually knows something about vinyl. he is right. plus i also recommend to put a high quality top laminate on it for protection also for more gloss so it looks painted. it to also comes in 7yrs product. maybe i will take some pics of what i have done recently to mine. i am also in the graphic industry. so i like the fact i can change it up whenever i want. last year my car was completely wrapped this year i have ss stripes. do that with paint

Where can this long warrantee material be found and does it come in vehicle specific kits or bulk and cut to fit only? W WOULD like the option of changing the theme but not every 3 or 4 years. Thanks.

most graphic shops will have premium material( 2 mil) however most stripe kits sold online are cast vinyl (3 mil) to maximize profits. so i suggest just go to your local graphic shop or find a vendor here who will sell you premium material instead. remember the cost will go up just because premium material is more costly to the place supplying the kit to you. a good graphic shop will be able to do anything you may need.

I had been considering real, painted stripes at the same time as de-badging, de-winging and de-key holing. It's the all too familiar case of liking champaign but with a beer pocketbook. I'll accept your suggestion. I never could quite figure out how to get a perfectly straight and centered line without some seriously interesting acrobatics. Now all I gotta do is find the right shop. Thanks again.

If you get a good shop to do it, vinyl can look just as good as paint. These bike graphics are all vinyl, but you would never know unless you actually look at them REAL close.

I like mine, and I keep a good coat of spray wax on them to protect them from the sun as much as possible.

It's a good way to change the entire look of your car for cheap. Go for it.

I'd love to watch the guy apply those bike graphics. I had a guy do an invisible bra on my car. Took him the better part of a whole day, but he did a great job. Pull and squeegy, pull and squeegy, lift and spray, pull and squeegy and on and on. You got to have pure patients flowing through your veins. That ain't me. But i think you talked me right into some vinyl stripes.

They guy who wrapped those bikes did them pretty quick. I don't know about the blue bike, but the harley took about 2 hours. He always does his wraps dry, something about when you do wet wraps the corners and bends don't always turn out right.

buellfooll - PM me if you're looking for the premium 8-10 year stuff. I work with Oracal brand... and stock 3500+ running feet of material. My walls are covered with vinyl rolls on the racks

Hey! Thanks for letting me know. God's honest truth I was just on my way out of the house to check out a couple of places to do the stripes. I'll let you know how I make out and if they throw me out for asking if they mind me bringing my own material. Kinda like taking a beer to a bar.

Just so I know if these guys are in the ballpark price wise, can you give me a GUESSTIMATE on what that material would cost for a single wide stripe flanked by two 1" or 2" stripes. How is it sold? In strips, square foot???

ya dry is best but if you do it wet it only means you have to baby sit it til it dries up. then it will be the same as dry lol

buellfooll - How wide of a center stripe are you wanting? The 2 outside stripes would be separate... added on after the center stripe is applied. PM me some specifics and I'll get you some pricing info. Oh yea, color too... some metallics are more. Check out the colors here - http://www.oracal.com/products/all-c...p?seriesID=215

I got a 09 ss/tc victory red and wanted to put black racing stripes on. Im definitly painting them and was wondering how far to take it.

Hood, roof, decklid,

Front Bumper, hood, roof, decklid, rear bumper cover

half front bumper cover, etc...

What would look sick as far as painted black stripes on Victory red

The vinyl stripes are good for what they are, vinyl. I was considering ordering a set of fender stripes and having GM Performance Division or Mobil 1 cut into them (vertically) to see if I liked it enough to have it painted.

As a side note: the only color *I* dont like stripes on, is yellow.
