Wanting to go with black interior. HELP!

Ok guys so I dont have the money to buy new door panels, etc. to convert to all black interior so thats out of the question.

So with that being said I was wondering what the options were to paint or stain the tan pieces black. I have painted the dash pieces blue already and they are holding up well as far as no paint chipping and all that but my only concern is that the door panels and lower dash gets a little more wear and tear than the upper dash. So is there a product out there other than paint that will stand up better than paint such as some sort of stain?

I've heard people talk about staining them black but never really could find any products that did so.

Anyone have any better ideas other than paint? Or is that basically my only option? I just dont want to paint them and within a few months have to take it all back out and touch it up.

Thanks for the help

David

Yea unfortunately.

I have the rest of the upper dash painted with Krylon fusion and it hasnt shown any signs of fading or chipping. I was just afraid that since the lower half of the interior gets SO much more traffic and all that, that maybe it would be more succeptible to getting messed up.

I appreciate it

Go to a truck accesory shop that does spray in bedliners. Any good Line-X(or rhinoliner, etc...) dealer would be able to spray a nice thin coat on the panels. And it will last forever.

I did it on my Elcamino, I'll see if I can find pics. The coating itslef actually sprays on almost totally smooth, they actually add texture to it in a seperate step, I was almost actually able to the see the factory grain on the door panels through the coating. They did my center console and both door panels for like $125.

I am switching over to SS door panels eventually, but will be getting my door sill trim coated instead of buying black, since its so tough.

Man is there any way you could take pics? Not to be a skeptic but i just dont completely trust the idea of spraying bed liner on my door panels. But man if you are serious that is one idea i woulda never thought of

I painted mine with a vinyl paint and while it looks good a good amount of time, it will wear and you will have to take it out and redo it to keep it looking good.... I have to do mine again real soon. I even clear coated the **** out of it, but like you said it get so much traffic its hard to keep looking good.

Man you will pay out the ass for someone to do it. just get a scrap piece of plastic somewhere and practice then have a go at it. When i did my upper dash it was my first time to ever paint anything like that and it turned out perfect. Look up the how to, take your time, and you will be fine.
