i have been researching on how to do it, and everyone says something different. what i would like is a vinyl sticker that is all weather, rainproof, etc. that i can take off if i got tired of it. do you or anyone know where i can get something along the lines of that?

Sure you could wrap them with vinyl, just heat helps vinyl to conform and it would be easily reversible.
More important though, plan your mods, don't make rushed decisions and don't over-do anything, keep it clean (bunch of cheap/free mods combined will give you that look, cheap). Some kids get obnoxious and trust me, you'll regret it. Don't spray-bomb everything in sight like some suggested. Keep it clean, plans mods that'll compliment each other. Another note, a great end result will cost some money.

I don't really have anything to add that hasn't already been said, some blacked headlights, tint, lowering, and tinted/smoked LED tails are all good places to start.
Sport means 2.4
it's probably an automatic.

If you spend the time prepping sanding and polishing they look better than the ebay ones. Plus some of the ebay ones arent dot approved and are cheap. Not to mention the factory ones say DOT approved

Shorty antenna is one of the easiest/cheapest quickies to make it look better
Depending on where you live, some good tint.
Someone mentioned lowering springs, that's a little more expensive and labor intense but it definately makes it look better
and MOST definatley Rims/Tires. You can toss a nice set of rims/tires on a Hundai and it'll look cool. That's probably where I'd start.
Good luck and have fun! Welcome to the Cobalt group!

this is a pic of my tinted tails. not too tinted as to cause accidents or what not. but darkened them right up and don't blind people when i press the brakes. and they were done by a painter buddy of mine. i believe its a 50/50 of black paint and clear.

The issue with nightshades is that its spray paint. The type of paint it uses doesn't leave a very smooth finish as say the OEM or smoked tails you can get from ebay. If you're not experienced with using spray paint then the result will look, like Joe said, cheap. The finish isn't smooth to the touch nor glossy. You'd have to consider a clear coat which still would not be as smooth as glass
I know there will be someone here that disagrees with me. But, I'm a perfectionist with it comes to my car. It'd bug the hell out of me if there was an imperfection in the tail light. I'm gonna spend the money to get it done right. Plus, like Bad05SS has, the LED's don't look too bad either
