Alright, its 2012 and its time to step it up. Chrome is nice, black is mean, but I decided to try something original on my new lights...... Maven metallic fiber print!






Ive talked to several "professionals" that offer a rattle can as their premium finish, ....I call your "extreme gloss black" and raise you custom metallic fiber print!

 

i was scared for a second when i saw chrome haha, those look sick.

 

Is that the stuff where they dip it in a print on top of water? That looks amazing!

 

So is the paint or wat lol

If it's what I think it is it's called hydro transfer printing. It's something that I'm honestly surprised hasen't caught on more.

ive heard of this, i saw some guy do his g8 on g5club. n e t and it looks sick!

 

Its transfer film/water printing/hydrotransfer graphics, lots of names for it. Its NOT a decal or wrap, its permanent, and clear coated. Its the same technique that virtually every three dimensional object youve ever seen that has a design on it is done with. footlball helmets, fake woodgrain and carbon fiber interior trim, camoflauge on stuff, you name it. Theres a base paint job, a pattern of dissolved film that the part is literally dipped into, then clearcoat.

 

yeah i remember seeing them do that on american chopper, pretty cool stuff. and a local powdercoated just started doing it.
