wetsanding paint.

I am thinking about wetsanding the cobalt, i really like smooth paint and i want to get rid of the orange peel. Has anyone done this to their cobalt yet? any tips or suggestions appreciated. Yes i will practice on a junk car first.

Wet sanding is the only way to get rid of orange peel. Paint will look beautiful when done. Use lots of water and use the ultra fine sand paper. 1500 and up. Stay away from the edges completely and buy a sanding block as well. Make sure car is clean before starting. Take your time and keep track of your progress.

There are some nice compounds to bring back the shine. You have to use 2 diff pads

Be extremely careful. Doing it too much will thin out the clear and ruin the paint.

Also, you MUST use a polisher that has enough power to buff the sanding out. A walmart "buffer" isn't going to cut it.

agrreed. find stuff to practice on first or just find someone that knows how to do it. the clear is garbage on these cars and very thin. its easy to go through.
