TBH I have the slim ballasts for my HID fogs and They are so small I didnt even mount them. Just let them lay nice and flat in the splash guard area or whatever that is. Only because I ordered the mounting hardware and never received it... I asked the same question lol but headlights.. I'd mount those pups.. Good question

Mine are where Padlocks are. Both fogs and headlights. My relays are bolted to the radiator support frame if I remember right.

I had both fog and headlight ballasts under the headlight tray like Padlock but the heat was too much and my headlights started acting up so I moved the fog ballasts. They are now velcro taped to the side of that same part of the bumper support where the headlight sits. Basically directly behind the foglight itself.

Same

I keep my relays kinda stuffed into the engine bay under the intake. Should stay dry and unnoticed there. Whole side of the bay is a wires mess anyway

Its wierd ive always had constant problems with drl hids ive replaced both ballasts like five times. But the foglight ones, just taped in the inside of the bumper, used 80% of the time i drive, have gave me zero issues

Thats a good question... Umm... I have these slim ballasts for the headlights that I think say Greddy on them? The ones for the fogs are whatever Buy HIDs sells with their fogs. Don't know the brand.

I am assuming it was the heat from them being next to each other b/c as soon as I moved one out from underneath there, the problem went away. Basically the lights would shut off after about 10 minutes of running and they would only turn back on if I was doing highway speeds for a few minutes (I assuming getting cooled off enough to come back on). So I just figured it was the heat.

hmm.. i was just checking to see if they were the Morimoto 3Five Ballast that theretrofitsource sells. I havent heard of any issue like you have described with them so maybe its a mix between the cheaper ballasts and mounting location you have. either way its good to hear you got it figured out.

I am running a DDM HID kit for my fogs and my some stroke of God I havent had issues with them for almost 4 years now. If they ever do go out I'll be replacing with TRS stuff though

I recommend headlight Ballasts to be mounted under the bracket and fog lights on the crash bar tucked under bumper cover.

I tried sticking mine to the inside of the bumper, they fell off every time. Got corroded with water laying on any flat surface. Ended up mounting them with brackets under the headlight bracket. Always worked well. Relay inside the frame rail.
