Window Tint. buddy got a ticket!! help please

A buddy of mine with an 05 SS/SC got pulled over friday nite at 2am for window tint.. he said his windows were down and that the cop could have only seen his rear window.. my question is whether or not the tint is factory?

Window tint is either done by the owner or some dealerships will do it. I had to sign a waiver to have my windows tinted. I've never been ticketed or pulled over for it

you have to check your state laws.. some states will not allow ANY tint on the windows, and from what i know PA is one of the most strick states when it comes to Modding a car

Basically ANY tint is illegal in PA. Tint does not come on the car from the factory so he's SOL.

I'm confused though, were the windows tinted when he bought the car? Did he buy it new or used? Did he put the tint on himself?

Errrr I bought my car in PA and it has a built in tint to the glass. Its not much, but its not plain glass. When I was researching it right after I boughtmy car I was pretty sure any level of factory tint is legal in PA but you need to have the paperwork about it being the factory tint and not something installed at a tint shop.

the dealer cant tint it and sell it so buying it used he bought what the other owner put on it. There is a sticky for tint laws by state on here.

Used the rule is you buy it you accept reponsibility for whatever is on it at the time of purchase. So he's gotta either take the tint off or pay the fine.

Factory tint is 70% which is basically just a very very very subtle anti-glare tint that isn't even really noticable and it usually looks slightly blue, not smokey. If the glass is darker than that, it's not factory tint, it's something that the dealer threw on. Which is illegal.

Don't come to the western side of the state then. We're in the land of the tint *****. I've been pulled over with nothing what so ever on my windows for "tint."

Well there is a pretty goddamn good reason for limits on window tint you know. Its called being able to see into the car you just pulled over so you don't get shot by some moron who is transporting crack and wants to get away.

That law has since been changed. Windows have to either be tinted from the factory (usually only trucks/SUVs) or they can be no darker than 70%.

Or you can pay a visit to the doctor and get a prescription for sun-sensitive meds (i.e. Acne medication) and ask the doctor to write a prescription for window tint. I just show it to the cops whenever I get pulled over and I'm on my way. Up here, they actually ask you if you have a prescription for your tint when they pull you over. Thats the first thing they usually say if your windows are too dark.

70% tint, which looks slightly blue is stock tint
in some states, that is the only legal tint
aka any aftermarket tinting is illegal *NY* for example

In NY 35% is the legal limit for side windows. ANY tint on your windshield is illegal and technically the side rear and rear window can be as dark as your want. i say technically because a cop can pull you over to be a d*ck about it. ONe of my boys' dad is a cop.

In Jersey you can have tint on the back 3 and the tint strip on the windshield as dark as you want, but NO tint on the front 2. I've gotten 2 tickets from the same pecker headed town. I'll pay the 55bucks to keep my car cooler, the clean look, tougher for hamburgerlers to look in, and cause I am COUNT WHITE-ULA AHAHAHA..I have to have my windows tinted.

There is paperwork that you can find that if filled out by your doctor, it is legal to have them windows tinted. I've seen it...

Well I have news for cops.. If they dont wanna pull over someone with dark tinted windows cause they might get shot then dont. Alot of states allow dark front sides, some states are **** about it. Every cop ive seen get shot is through an open car window not one rolled up and tinted.
