08 SS - In-Car vid @ AutoX

I came in 4th over-all, and 2nd in my class. Unfortunately I was running on All Season tires and didn't have the grip to really push the car hard. I lost to a Civic SI with stickies and a driver mod...

Very nice. That was a long run for an SCCA course! More like a vette/mustang/miata club length than SCCA. Nice run though. Auto-x is pretty much done around here.

Thx all

Yeah, it was a long course, hence the reason they named it "Attack of the Pylons"... lol... Really wish I had sticky tires on, I think I could have shaved another second off.... The Corvette's were all in the 1:50 - 1:52 range.... next year I'm gonna get some sticky tires and see if I can get close to that Turbo Sky...

I don't know if its different in real life but those cones don't look like they're outlining any specific track to me haha, just looks like your kinda just going where you want to go around them

My guess is just a bit more room for a larger track cause thats what i was thinking. I run with club that only get local ovals and there is only so much you can do with them. Its seat time none the less.

I see... we just started the WK SCCA chapter 2 years ago, and we are starting to get better venues. This Airstrip is awesome though and I love the slalom type setup.

Phyrric, the course uses pointer cones (cone laid over) to tell which side you are to go to. We do use flour and actual outlines for smaller courses, but getting to run the length of an airstrip with 2min runs is way to much fun. Plus it adds to the difficulty, but after you do it a few times, looking for the pointer cones becomes second nature.

I raced with some BMW[NCC] car club at Summit AutoX. I'm the only Cobalt in the mix and I think I represent very well but I would love some back up. Season is over now though

I agree, but sometimes even with a good camera unless you have a remote mounted mic all you get is wind noise. All these vids make me want a GO Pro

you rarely hear the car in those video's. What you hear is rocks flying and wind...

go pro is nice, but bad for sound as its enclosed in that plastic case. But get the wide angle lens one. Me and rallyracer have them for our racing vids. Great camera, steep learning curve as the buttons are not labeled.

i disagree.. mainly from experience. My friends and I used to video all of our runs on various camera setups.. could almost always hear the cars/tires very clearly.

well which cameras? Where are they mounted? because with the go pro's you cant. With the big cannon hd camera rallyracer has, maybe with the big ass mic but if its on the outside of the car its only wind. You must be referring to cameras INSIDE the car.

actually i'm referring to cameras mounted all over.. both inside and out. We put a piece of fairly dense foam over the mic to drastically cut down wind noise..

we did something very similar to this:

Ah with modding it then yes I can see that working. I was talking stock. But also with go-pro's they are in a plastic enclosure so they barely pick up any sound.
