Question 1/4 mile drag and tracks in the South TX area?

I am gonna do a GM Stage 1 kit soon , but I wanna go out to a track and see what numbers I can run first stock.

I live in Corpus Christi, Tx but am willing to go a couple hundred miles out. we have tracks but they are dirt or oval tracks. Doubt I would find any "tacks" with turns and stuff like that anywhere super close by, but im sure there has to be a 1/4 somewhere around here.

anything I should know before taking a stock Cobalt SS/TC auto crossing or "racing" at a track? Im no professional driver lol

Tell me when you go, it would be cool to have 2 balts there. You should go just for the hell of it before you SC. just to see exactly how much a difference it makes. I would
