having emergency brake cable interferance problems with the rear wheels. Anyone have a solution to that issue? Drove the car about 2 miles and holy hell is it eager to turn in. Havent really pushed it, but lock-to-lock no rubbing - still stock suspension. HC bar is in the mail now.

i would invest in a good jack scissor jacks are absolutely horrible.... had one collapse on me the other day just because the metal couldnt support the vehicle it was intended fors weight when changing a spare.
what slow balt says... thats really about all you can do or bend the retainer twords the shock body some more.

I actually do have a 'decent' jack, you can see it in the pictures but I really want a nice aluminum one. I just use the scissor jack at events because I can hit it with the impact and raise the car in about 5 seconds front and rear.
But your right, probably not the best idea.
So now on to the good bits. Looking at suspension... I'm not sure Powell yyzs will be stiff enough in the rear to be a player in stx. Can anyone attest that they are? I was thinking about getting linear 600lb for the rear and 400 or 450 front. Still want the car to be somewhat drivable but I don't mind being bounced around a bit. Also don't want it to be too skaty on a road course. Any input? If yyzs and konis is the only way Thats what I'll do.

^^This. YYZ's and Konis improve the car's balance in turns beyond belief. On my stock shocks/struts and Sportlines I used to only be able to go about 3 inches onto the curb stones at my local road track.Any more and I would lose time due to imbalance when coming off. With my new setup I can go the full width of the tire and the car is solid as a rock coming off. I also have Powell TCABS, twisting bushings and XXX bar.

I know you said it was a vast improvent over sport lines, but I think its pretty well established that sport lines don't perform as well as stock springs, and are too low to allow adequate rear shock travel. Not that I don't trust your opinion, I'm just looking for autox impressions with a similar wheel tire package on stock suspension vs konis (not sure anyone has run 17x9s on stock fe5 stuff that I know of).
I'm trying to think outside the box a bit. I think I can be pretty competitive in this car and I don't know of anyone who has competed with much success nationally in STX with an lnf. I think the car would benefit from some higher rate springs, I really just want it to feel Like a heavy, powerful STC CRX - lol.

I think Powell posted up the spring rates somewhere on here. Also I forget the complete username but scott something huge into autox and he runs a custom set up with coil over sleeves and he went through a lot of different spring rates to find one that worked well. Might look at some old auto threads, I think he lists his set up

So the YYZ's being a huge improvement over the Sportlines, that's impressive.

With yyz and xxx bar on konis on soft I found the car very very manageable with the same rims
With koni's full hard in the rear the car becomes overly tail happy(told by 2 instructors, which isn't a bad thing, if you are a good driver).
Don't forget too much bar and stiff springs means you could potentially lift the front inside wheel and lose traction as well.

They are actually +45 all around. The fronts have a 15mm hubcentric H&R spacer, it's some sort of magnesium alloy and is quite light. Did this so I can rotate front to rear to extend tire life. And if I go to coilover sleeves or camber plates in the front I can run a bit less spacer and more tire in the front under stock width fenders depending on what I try to do with the car. (Looking at running a USCA race at Daytona in the >3000lb 2wd class before our ChumpCar race next year, since they are both put on by Optima the same weekend. No tire restriction there other than 200tw)
They are indeed Z1 star specs, 245-40-17. Got them for free and I'll run em a few events until I decide what tire to get. Waiting for reviews on the RS3 v2.
I wasn't trying to come off as argumentative, I just think this car has a chance in STX as I personally was only 2-3 seconds off the pace of a mid-pack (at natls) fully prepped brz on kW v3s, etc. And I was completely stock, with failing CABS on $80 Chinese tires. I think even with stock power it will be able to hold its own at a Natl level.
I just want every advantage within reason. I know Powell designed the yyz with stock shocks in mind, or off-the-shelf konis. This makes sense from a business perspective and I have no doubt they are phenomenal, but I don't mind spending a bit more for an ideal auto-x setup.

I think 255s would be too wide with my current alignment. I think it is at 1.3* front. Thinking of running cam bolts until I get a new front suspension setup - anyone on those? How much camber, did you get and how does it handle? I think 2-2.2* would probably be enough to clear the fenders. I'll probably see a mild camber gain from the drop with the Powell springs too..
