In-car cameras
I am looking at getting a camera for track days and wondering what kind you guys are using. I've been looking at a go-pro camera and a hoyt msr-200. They both come with the suction cups, but I'm more interested in the in-car view. I've seen the cruise cam headrest mount and seems to work good. So just let me know what kind of cameras you use and how you mount them. Thanks,
Love love love my GoPro HD:

Sad thing is though, you gotta remember to pack it :\ - I forgot it this past Friday at a track day

Yep. The Motorsports version of the GoPro comes with sticky mounts that enable you to mount the camera anywhere. I really like mounting the camera to my helmet because it allows a lot more visual information to be captured. Shifting, mirror checking, speedometer, etc. Static mounts are kinda boring to watch IMO.
I don't like seat mounts because the seats do move quite a bit. Especially our cheap seats.

I think that the helemet idea is a good one. I don't really want to mount on the outside because I want to see my hands on the wheel and other things. I was also thinking that I could take the suction cup and mount it on the moonroof inside of the car so the camera would be upside down. I don't know if the camera would have the actual video fliped or if I could flip it. I don't know if the rearview miror we'll be blocking most of the picture.
The gopro hd seems nice and I'm probably looking that way.

The standard go pro isnt even that bad so the HD must look really good.
in car camera shot from this weekend
STI, intake, exhaust, tune, suspension and Hoosier R6s ( not sure what was just lowered, didn't ask that part) vs me SS/TC rear Konis, some Kumho XS and a K&N drop in. At Carolina Motorsports park in SC we were pushing hard until he spun at 100+ going through the kink! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWWiIKb60bM

Cruise Cam mount with Panasonic SDRS7, Cam was on clearance at futureshop and for the price I paid I couldnt not buy it, has ok video quality a bit higher than go pro but not what I really want will upgrade to a Sony or Canon high def soon, as for the cruise cam mount can not say enough good things about it either in the middle or mounted over my left shoulder so it views the front and the rpd at the same time it doesnt shake at all and it is adjustable so it lets me record whatever angle I want with ease.
I owned my GoPro for a week. For in car camera it's not bad. Do NOT expect overally great footage and do not expect the little wind noise they advertise.

He lifted and didn't countersteer in time on the exit, probably because he thought he was gonna go into the dirt. The dirt's a better choice, unless there's a car already at the slow left ahead.
Sorry about the itty bitty video. I can't find the original anymore:

Though shalt not lift in the kink. I prefer to apex it way over the curb to give yourself more room, but it will get you partly airborne (pray for your LSD), and it will eventually knock the car out of alignment, but you can go through there are retardedly fast speeds.

Damn, keep going! I was afraid someone was gonna tag you from behind.

I know, I should have kept going. Dumb mistake on my part. But, we had blown by everyone on track long ago.
good stuff. have you stayed flat through there yet? I know my car is easily capable but really lacking in the testicular fortitude department. I've been consistant 102-105s. I lift long befor turn in take a breath then put my foot back down. But that's faster than the race cars I've seen on youtube.

Going flat out all the way from the previous turn is something you have to be careful about working up to. Somewhat dependent on the car, but mostly driver.
The gopro hd that I got this week worked out great this past weekend. I had a track day at Gateway International Raceway on Saturday and a autocross on Sunday. I got alot of great footage and it really looks good when it is hooked up to the tv.
