FAST Autox SPC

Well had my second Autocross event and ended up taking 2nd in my class on some conti DWS all season tires so heres a vid

YouTube - 100911 FAST AutoX C

And a quick question to the experienced people; being a college student cash is low so I am looking into getting a new front set of rims and tires so I can swap them just for events, now the question is will there be any major loss in just replacing the front tires? Because i never seem to get the tail out it will just understeer at the limits.

Being a poor college student I was there and now I am just poor. Save your money so you can run at more events. Experince will make you faster then new tires. Run what you got and experiment pushing the car in the turns try to feel what the tires are doing. Use your brakes to there max. A lot of people when getting into this don't use 100% of the cars braking. At a solo event the only thing to hit are cones so don't be afriad of them. If you feel the need to buy something get one of those seat belt locks, this will keep you from moving around and you will be better able to feel the car.

do u hold the TCS down for 10 seconds to shut almost everything off?

Some ideas to get the rear to rotate, Run higher rear tire PSI, I have koni yellows on the rear only with a slightly stiffer rebound setting. You can also lef off the gas mid turn and blip the brake, if you do it just right the rear can start to rotate.

I guess I wasn't clear in what I was asking, its not that I want to get the tail out and Im blaming it on the tires but, I dont wanna destroy my daily front tires and would like a seperate set for front. I would like to know if there is any real disadvantages in just replacing the front ones because it seems to me I have plenty of grip in the rear. Im already set on Kumhu ecsta xs.

The kumhos are a good tire for not a lot of money. Just bump up the psi so they don't roll over on the side walls. Your right the fronts see all the abuse, change just the fronts should be ok the rears after all are just along for the ride.

i only liked the kumhos on my old S2000, they feel tto dead on a front wheel drive car cause they do all the work. But the do have a lot of grip thats for sure!!

I like the dunlops more cause they have a lot better turn in response. But i see no reason you cant just do the fron two
